The principal purpose of the Commercial function is to manage and develop constructive, long-lasting relationships with Customers, suppliers and partners based on trust and proven operational excellence.
To develop, negotiate and agree innovative business solutions that exceed BAE Systems’ Customers expectations whilst delivering shareholder value and achieving profits for the company.
To negotiate, agree and support innovative contracts that provide a Commercial framework within which BAE Systems an deliver world class capabilities to Customers while minimising risk and maximising shareholder value.
To achieve these objectives the Commercial function promulgates Commercial policies and process, delivers the effective management of contracts and carries out appropriate training to ensure that the function’s personnel have the skills and knowledge necessary to perform their role effectively.
Working in the Contracts discipline of the Commercial function provides the opportunity to support the generation of bids and proposals to Customers that are priced, developed and approved within the Business.
The Commercial role is one of the few within BAE Systems to interact with all other functions. It is a role which exists throughout the project lifecycle and has end to end exposure and experience. It requires a breadth of vision to understand the bigger picture, and a laser focus that spots issues and identifies solutions.
Demonstrating consistently high levels of business acumen is central to the Commercial team’s value add.
As a minimum requirement you’ll need to have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
