Energy is a fundamental basic need of our society. Fossil fuels, including oil, are an essential source of energy and will remain so until renewable energies have the capacity to meet the growing demand for energy.

Nearly 5,000 SBMers globally are proud to design, build and operate floating facilities that produce more than 1% of the world’s oil. We do it in the safest, most affordable, and most sustainable way. And we continuously strive to reduce emissions, in line with our emissionZEROTM program.

As a leader in floating technologies for the oil and gas industry, we recognize the significant importance of climate change and the growing need for renewable energy. We invest in products and services that enable the transition towards renewable energy, with a focus on Floating Offshore Wind, Wave Energy, and Carbon Capture and Storage. In addition, we also develop Smart Digital Services to improve and support everything we do.

Oceans play a central role in producing the energy of today and of tomorrow. We work together with the world’s leading energy companies to make that happen. We act responsibly and ethically so that communities where we operate benefit from our presence and activities.

We are committed to sharing our experience to deliver safe, sustainable, and affordable energy from the oceans for generations to come.

About the graduation project

In line with SBM strategy to accelerate the decarbonization of our FPSO product line, while developing further our emissionZero FSPO initiatives, this graduation project requires an analysis and simulation of a hybrid FPSO power generation and distribution system. The FPSO power system currently consists of gas and steam turbine generators. However, SBM wants to innovate and partially import green power supply from an offshore wind farm nearby. For this island off-grid power system offshore we want to identify in a dynamic simulation utilizing Matlab Simulink all possible dynamics or system integration challenges. At the end of the graduation assignment a business case analysis needs to be performed together with an investment proposition.

What does SBM Offshore offer?

You will be part of exciting times SBM Offshore finds itself in, the challenges and dynamics that come with it, and the increasing need for talented and ambitious new colleagues to participate with us in this adventure, now.

We offer:

  • An internship compensation of 450.00 EUR gross per month
  • Challenging and diverse tasks within a multicultural and passionate working environment
  • Insights in Cross-functional collaboration & Insights in a Matrix Project organization
  • A lot of knowledge which will set you up for a beginner’s position in a R&D/Technology position in a multinational worldwide
  • Public transportation allowance (2nd class) if you do not have an NS Student Travel Card
  • A full-time position (32/40 hours / week) at our Regional office in Schiedam for 6 to 12 months.
