As a Junior Internal Controls Officer, you will be working as part of the Services Oversights & Controls team within NN Life Finance, a dynamic, driven and diverse team of professionals. Together with our business partners, we take responsibility for leading and executing impactful initiatives across all businesses and divisions within the organization by implementing end-to-end operational excellence and oversight of all services and controls within Finance. Our ideal candidate needs to be able to take initiative, deal with uncertainty and work in a dynamic and constantly changing environment.

This job offers you a monthly salary between € 3.065 and € 4.379 depending on your experience. This is based on a 36-hour workweek, excluding a 13th month and holiday allowance.

Your impact as Junior Internal Controls Officer at NN

You will support the Services Oversight and Controls team that has as main focus point: the optimization and integration of NN Life’s Financial Reporting Risk Framework, encompassing improvements on the efficiency of the existing controls and building of a future-proof set of controls upon our new accounting chain. Furthermore, interaction on controls topics with the first line in Finance, NN Group departments, second line (e.g. Risk Management) and third line (e.g. internal auditors and external auditors) will be part of your day-to-day activities.

Your responsibilities

  • The Financial Reporting Risk cycle: monitor progress, collect and consolidate information from the different parties involved in the FRR process, status of the business tracking, results and mitigating actions and coordinate the documentation of current processes and controls
  • Ensuring that there are sufficient assurance, accuracy and completeness of the Quarterly Enterprise Control Framework report
  • Maintaining the overview of regulatory and audit findings and actively driving follow up actions within NN Life by centralization & monitoring of findings
  • Improving the quality of process control awareness and documentation across Finance as part of first-line risk management initiative and facilitating End User Developed Applications (EUDA) template input by relevant stakeholders
  • Ensuring that all internal and external service providers of NN Life are captured and updated in an inventory and ensure ISAE/ in control statements are accurate to scope and available when requested

Who you are

You have a high learning agility, meaning you can easily adapt and absorb new information in a changing environment. We are looking for a self-motivated and initiative taker with an ability to follow projects through to implementation. You draw the best out of yourself as well as those around you. If you can help someone, you do not think twice about it. You have strong communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills both in English and Dutch.

  • Bachelor/Master degree in Business, Accounting & Control, Economics or Finance
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in the insurance industry with IT and Financial internal controls, operational risk management or audit
  • Knowledge of internal controls (IT and FRR) and have taken the lead in parts of projects is required
  • Excellent analytical skills that will allow you to swiftly understand underlying issues in combination with a pragmatic approach that will allow you to suggest and support your colleagues and service providers with solutions
  • Strong process optimization/improvement skills in taking the internal controls of Finance to the next level
