You might wonder what a day in the life of a Digital Experience Designer at Lightyear looks like?

Let's start by saying Lightyear is very flexible in terms of your working hours, we offer near-full remote working with any office equipment we need to work ergonomically (and a work-at-home budget to upgrade your internet). If needed, or desired, you can spend your working time at our modern office at the Automotive Campus close to Helmond (travel allowance included), or at our satellite offices in Amsterdam and Utrecht. Here you can enjoy a good cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate, fresh fruit and experience the buzz of the office and our labs.

So, let's assume it's Friday, you chose to come to our office and the first thing you do is grab your favourite wake-up drink before rolling into the first meeting of your day: the daily stand-up with the entire Marketing team. You and the team discuss major milestones and ongoing campaigns so everyone's up to date on what's going on.

Next, you meet with our Product Marketing Manager to review the first ideas you developed for a new tool you call the Solar Calculator. This tool aims to provide our audience with insight into what driving on the sun means in their specific situation, and in this way give a tangible experience to abstract numbers. The Product Marketing Manager is impressed by your ideas and together you brainstorm to challenge if you can get the ideas to an even higher level. After the meeting you’ve got some time left and inspired as you are from the brainstorm, you immediately start creating some draft animations in Figma to research how to implement the new feature you just came up with for the tool. To cool down before lunch, you scan your favorite design blogs online, looking for the latest design trends. One thing in particular stands out in your eyes, and you share it in the Design chat to inspire your colleagues.

After a nice lunch in the restaurant on the campus, you decide to quickly grab a banana from the fruit box and go for a stroll in the park in front of our office together with a few colleagues. During walks like these, it's not all about work. You talk about your plans for the weekend, and you decide to hang out and do some mountain biking together.

After the stroll, it's time to meet online with the digital agency with which you work together on the development of an interactive game. This game allows our audience to take a digital trip with Lightyear One. In recent weeks, the agency has done their best to convert your ideas and experiments into an interactive experience. You are very critical and you clearly explain why you think that certain things could be improved a bit. After that you are ready to meet with our Creative Director. Together you review the animated infographic you have created to be implemented as a scrollable Lotti on our technology page. You take your time to elaborate on the choices you made and touch up on every small detail of your design.

Lastly, you and a few colleagues on the Brand & Experience team meet to review the results of a test that our CRM Manager ran. His A/B testing revealed that new pictures of the car in motion drive much higher user engagement than an older set of pictures. Then, it's finally time for your well-deserved Friday afternoon drink or you participate in one of the fun activities our happiness team comes up with!
