Job purpose

Global Procurement of Ocean and Air Freight, meeting the specified needs of the Business at most competitive commercial terms. The assistant procurement manager is primarily responsible for supporting with the onboarding of carriers and integration with Unilever’s newly created International Control Tower organization, supplier relationship management, ensuring development of partnerships, unlocking value and managing on performance. Works closely together with the Procurement manager to develop and drive Business Strategies based on needs of the business. Collaborate with Logistics Excellence and other regional stakeholders and support on the development and launch of the International Control Tower for Ocean and Air;

Manage Supplier Relationships & continuously building capability in the areas of Ocean and Air Logistics by supplier engagement, collaborative planning and supplier performance management and market insights.

What will your main responsibilities be?

  • Work closely with the Logistics Excellence team to ensure a successful implementation and execution of the International Control Tower organization.
  • Provide consultative advice to Internal business network as a subject matter expertise on Ocean/Air Freight
  • Participate and Facilitate in the global and regional sourcing studies by providing expertise advice in the area of freight
  • Supplier Relationship Management
  • Deliver Cash targets.
  • Identify metrics, tools and process to optimize sourcing, supplier activities and efficiencies.
  • Work closely with suppliers to drive key initiatives such as Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability.
  • Initiate and drive complexity reduction projects (e.g. harmonisation of specifications and suppliers)
  • Measure and manage overall performance of suppliers.
  • To assess, identify and select the appropriate supplier base that would meet the needs of the business
  • To continuously improve ways of working and optimise procurement activities.
  • To ensure the satisfaction of Unilever's internal customers with the services provided by the Global freight procurement team.
  • To lead cross-functional initiatives and represent Unilever's interests in the management of external strategic relationships.
  • In the context of Partner to Win, to identify, develop and manage strategic business relationships to enable implementation of the Unilever growth strategy, revenue achievement and new development initiatives.

Skills you should have

  • Target driven. Negotiation Skills and Strong Analytical skills.
  • Advanced Excel Skills and ability to work quickly with large amounts of numerical data.
  • In-depth Ocean Freight & Trade knowledge.
  • Highly skilled at ocean & air freight operations
  • Superior stakeholder management, both internal (across all WLs and functions) and external (with suppliers and consultants).
  • Experience in procurement function, running procurement processes/contracts, and relationship management.
  • Proactive and positive team player
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strategic and strong organizational skills
  • Fast learner and self-driven.

Experience expected

Essential

  • University degree.
  • At least 5 to 8 years experience in Ocean Freight, Procurement/Supply Management or Operations.
  • Experience in International Ocean Freight is highly preferred.

Preferred

  • Previous experience of and involvement with RFQ and Tendering processes.
