De functie

In the role of Tech lead, you will ensure that the development teams embrace the right processes and approaches to deliver robust and scalable applications which will be maintained and kept up to date in the long term. You are the one that keeps an overview of development, infrastructure and all applications for the whole department.

You’ll be guiding the development teams to continuously improve existing customer-facing applications. You assist Product Owners, stakeholders and others with technical approach and questions, for instance when new projects and products come in. At the same time, you will actively participate in the delivery of new functionalities and products. You’ll do so in close collaboration with solution architects and service managers to make sure you follow Schiphol’s policies. Together with them, you are also responsible for third party requests. As our lead, you will put in place a strong technical vision that gives direction and purpose to the development teams. You are in charge of the technical and application roadmap. You’ll make sure the development teams embrace a robust development culture, where the quality of work and user-centric mindset are key. You foresee technical bottlenecks in the future and makes sure they are taken into account when planning roadmap. Challenging the developers to make the right decisions at the right time comes naturally to you. You are able to represent & coordinate the work needed for long term maintainability of our applications as the main tech stakeholder in our product backlogs. Because the reliability of our products is of great importance, you will ensure a solid infrastructure and coordinate a pool of on-call shifts for developers.

You provide support to the developers in their career growth and you will be involved in recruitment and placement of new developers. You are their technical mentor. Jij bent

Tech-savvy is your middle name, and you have a proven track of working with large-scale systems. Pairing with developers and coding still excites you. Technology has always been and still is your passion.

You have a background in (full stack) developing, preferably with TypeScript, Java or JavaScript for 6+ years and have a deep understanding of software development principles and best practices. Continuous delivery, deploying to the cloud, containerization and orchestration are today’s standard and not only well understood by you, but you are able to develop it further. You have working experience in leading multiple engineering teams in a high performing IT organization. Thanks to your lean-agile mindset, implementing its principles in your daily work comes easy to you.

Communication is your strong suit, in writing and face to face. Showcasing the work of your teams or giving presentations doesn’t scare you. You show persuasion and you can hold your own in a technical argument, but you also know when to let it go. To get things done you use influence, not authority. You know how to gain trust and alignment between people.

You like to work goal and result-oriented and you have a data-driven approach. Not only are you analytically strong and precise, but you’re also customer focused. With a can-do attitude, you proactively solve issues before they become bigger problems. Having mastered your time management skills, you are flexible in your work approach and are able to deal with priorities shifting. You are a humble and thoughtful leader. One who leads by example and gains the respect of teammates through actions, not the title.
