The people we all rely on to make the world go around – they rely on Thales. In a world that is increasingly fast-moving, unpredictable and full of opportunities, they come to us with big ambitions: to make life better and to keep you safer. Combining a unique diversity of expertise, talents and cultures, our employees design and deliver extraordinary high-tech solutions. With 68.000 talents working in 54 countries, 2000 employees are based in the Netherlands. We are one of the biggest high-tech employers in the field of safety and security.

We help our customers think smarter and act faster in the fields of transportation, defense, space, aerospace and cyberspace, mastering ever-greater complexity and every decisive moment along the way. We are therefore leading the digital transformation, focusing on artificial intelligence, big-data & data analytics, connectivity, mobility and internet of things and cybersecurity.

In the Netherlands, we are located in four cities: Huizen, Delft, Eindhoven and Hengelo (HQ). Together with an extensive ecosystem of knowledge partners, customers and suppliers, we work on radars for naval vessels, cyber security solutions, transportation systems, communication equipment for land forces, cryogenic cooling solutions, research & development for radar tech (in collaboration with TU Delft) and research & development for serious gaming (in collaboration with the University of Twente).

To strengthen our Operational Analysis team we are looking for a: System Analysis Engineer (SAE)

About the team

We support the Thales organization by following activities:

  • Conducting scientific and technical studies;
  • Supporting sales activities through the analysis of operational scenarios and preparing these analyses for customer consumption;
  • Concept development for new and existing products, for example the next generation missile defense system;
  • Algorithm development for new and existing products;
  • Drawing up requirements for new product development;
  • Validation of performance figures during sea trials.

About your future job

As a System Analysis Engineer (SAE), you will be part of a multi-disciplined team of other SAE’s. The SAE participates in all the activities of the Operational Analysis team. The primary method of supporting the Thales organization is by simulation of operational performance of contemporary and future defence systems. The team is responsible for developing a custom simulation framework, the creation of the models used within the framework and the tools used for analysis of the output. Models include amongst other things: radars, optronic sensors, command and control systems, defence systems and threats. Each member of the team has in time developed their own specialty.

The job involves a lot of interaction with colleagues from within and outside the Operational Analysis team as well as with partners outside Thales and full-on technical work. Enthusiasm and pleasure in the work is essential. Within the team you will be supported to (further) develop the skills and acquire the domain knowledge necessary to understand and portray naval warfare operations, provide threat and scenario definitions and generate appropriate operational performance.
