Position Purpose:

This position forms an integral part of the Insurance Operations team that is responsible to conduct a wide range of insurance operations activities globally, in line with the policy & procedures. Reporting to the Director, Insurance & Risk, this position is accountable for the management of insurance programs and risk management activities as assigned by the Director, Insurance & Risk. This position exists to conduct:

  • Company-wide management of assigned insurance programs to see that all entities are properly protected in line with the department’s requirements, operating guidelines, policy & procedures, and local insurance regulations.
  • Expeditious negotiation and favorable settlement of insurance claims and integrity of loss data for assigned insurance categories.
  • Risk Control Program and associated risk mitigation activities for assigned insurance classes to see that the company’s long-term risks transfer costs are managed in a cost-effective and consistent manner.
  • Provide day-to-day counsel and support to all the businesses regarding global insurance and risk management issues and promote best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Insurance Placement - plans, implements, maintains, and monitors assigned insurance programs in line with company operating guidelines, policy & procedures, department strategy, insurance market conditions, and adapts them to approved business models as appropriate.
  • Claims Management - full responsibility for the management of claims for assigned insurance categories for JTG, in accordance with company policy & procedures.
  • Risk Mitigation, Risk Control, and Loss Prevention - promoting risk awareness and best practices in risk mitigation processes and standards within the JTG companies to support the business in reducing insured operational risks that could have a significant operational or negative financial impact to JTG, not limited to enabling the development of baselines, policy & procedures, risk control standards, guidelines, and training programs related to risk mitigation.
  • Global Insurance Network Servicing & Risk Services - full responsibility for timely and quality servicing and communication on global insurance and risk management matters to internal customers across all JTG companies for assigned classes of insurance.
  • Controlled Global Master Insurance Framework for the JTG companies - provides the necessary support and services, and technical expertise to the JTG companies in respect of the Controlled Global Master Insurance Framework, regarding coverage, program design, best practices, market review, brokers/consultants, risk mitigation processes, and other associated activities.
  • AP/SP, Audits, Legal Contract / Legal Agreement Reviews/Special Projects - obtains and reports budgetary estimation from relevant insurance brokers and insurance companies for assigned classes prior to AP/SP submission as well as BIP submission for Integration following the acquisition.

Qualifications and experience:

  • University Bachelor’s Degree, University Engineering Degree, or a University degree in insurance, finance, or similar field.
  • Minimum of 5 progressive years of insurance underwriting, insurance brokerage, or risk management experience required. Accredited insurance qualification is a prerequisite.

  • The position requires a dedicated internal customer focus within a fast-paced environment by those that effectively represent the company’s best interests. The position should be resourceful, energetic, and able to multi-task.
  • Sound judgment and respect of the confidential and sensitive nature of the work and utmost dedication to the accuracy of information and precision are essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal, documentation, and presentation skills, necessary to communicate technically complex insurance information in a professional and the most appropriate manner to various audiences in the JTG to inspire confidence and develop a risk-aware culture throughout the organization.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, evaluate, and resolve emerging challenges associated with insured and uninsured risks.
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate and manage various internal resources, insurance brokers, and insurance companies in the implementation and maintenance of various global insurance programs and claims management.
  • The ability to work effectively, credibly, and responsibly and to coordinate projects under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • High proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, as well as familiarity with standard risk management information systems.
