ADAS Engineer

helmond

full time

Summary

Where: The Automotive Campus in Helmond, part of Brainport: the heart of Europe's innovation

Domain: Research Track Autonomous Driving

Experience: 3 years or more in ADAS

Degree: at least a Master degree

Working at Lightyear is a unique experience. You get the opportunity to work for a company with a pure and meaningful mission. A mission that will make a positive and lasting impact on future generations.

What will you do as ADAS Engineer?

As an ADAS Engineer you work to develop and integrate ADAS into Lightyear vehicles. These systems include, for instance, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Lane Assist and more. But that is just the start! We have exciting future plans to expand our ADAS and increase the level of autonomous driving to Level 3 and Level 4 AD. Your mission is to make sure Lightyear is able to meet the customers’ expectations with respect to ADAS and AD. You’re able to achieve this by contributing to the development of new concepts and AD features as well as by finding the most well suited sensors and technologies along with the best world-class partners.

Your job will focus on but is not limited to:

  • Contribute to Lightyear’s development of Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Driving (AD).
  • Help define Lightyear’s set of ADAS and AD features for future vehicles.
  • Integrate, test and support sourcing sensors, e.g. cameras, radars and LiDARS.
  • Design, conceptualize and implement ADAS and AD features, on both prototyping and production environments, according to automotive and safety standards.

Your day starts with your favourite coffee and a stand-up with your team - you discuss the issues you’ve been facing and how your code keeps labeling dutch bicycles as trucks - you’re excited to see that your colleagues are eager to help, as they have faced similar issues in the past. It’s Tuesday so you’re free to work without lots of meetings in between - you head into the lab to work on Lightyear’s autonomous prototype. Today you’re benchmarking two different LiDARs so you make sure that everything is set and ready to go. You see your wiring colleagues prepared the wiring harness as needed so everything powers up smoothly. You perform your initial static tests and you make sure you checkout the prototype. It’s time for testing it outside, so you open the labs’ garage door and head outside to the campus. After some driving your return to the office and you log all the relevant data - it’s going to take some time to dig through so much data so you head to the canteen to grab some fruit for a mid-afternoon snack. You spend some time talking to your new colleague who just joined as a Thermal Engineer - you have no clue how the chiller works so you sit back to listen and learn.
