In doing so, we will be working closely with both local and regional stakeholders to ensure that local business needs are met while global scale is being leveraged.

The future is about assisted decision-making via machines (AI, Cognitive Computing, Machine Learning) unlocking insights from a vast amount of consumer, customer and internal data and presenting these in a way that is simple and actionable for our business teams. Delivering intelligent systems at scale. Powering all parts of our business through Data & Analytics tooling. Building the right applications and delivering the right insights to enable our business teams to move faster, be more accurate and make more forward-looking decisions. Making data a true asset. Improve access to high quality data, business intelligence and data science for every part of Unilever and training our organization to find, interpret and use Data & Analytics to create value. Providing world-class Information. Continued excellence in the provision of information, development of diagnostics and delivery of insights to focus attention when and where it matters. Winning disproportionately in Middle Europe. The Data & Analytics Middle Europe team is a brand-new team that will lead the Data & Analytics journey for DACH, Nordics, Italy, and the Benelux (Middle Europe). The team consists of a group of data professionals whose purpose it is to set up a cloud-based data infrastructure, answer core business questions via cutting-edge dashboards, tackle complex challenges with advanced analytics and digitally transform the wider organization. Our team is a combination of business translation, data engineering, data analysis and data science profiles who are all leveraging a cloud-based data platform to add value.

Your role in our team will be that of Data Scientist.

Your Role:

  • Enabling the democratization of data, delivery of products and the provision of insights
  • Adding value by delivering Data & Analytics solutions for Supply Chain, Sales, Finance and Marketing
  • Identifying new opportunities to add business value by leveraging Data Science
  • Engaging with stakeholders to understand their business needs and define what hypotheses we should test
  • Providing insights to business teams leveraging a cross-functional data and advanced analytics techniques
  • Leveraging data wrangling, exploratory data analysis, data visualization and machine learning algorithms (supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning) to solve regression or classification problems
  • Translating data science into actions which are required to drive transformation in the business
  • Facilitating the industrialization and supporting the ongoing operations of data science solutions through well-organized code, clear documentation, and leveraging ML components in Azure
  • Owning the data science roadmap and backlog of business requests
  • Growing the Data Science community in Europe by collaborating, knowledge sharing and providing trainings

Skills & Experience:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, statistics, econometrics, economics, or business
  • Minimum 1-3 years of working experience in data science
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • The ability to clearly articulate technical work to non-technical stakeholders
  • Having solid business acumen and stakeholder management skills
  • Having solid data visualization, presentation, and storytelling skills
  • Expertise in machine learning, exploratory data analysis and data wrangling
  • Expertise in building models using Python, PySpark, Scala, SQL
  • Experience with popular data science programming libraries (e.g., SciKit-Learn, TensorFlow, XGBoost)
