Lead Engineer

's-Hertogenbosch

Fulltime

What you'll do:

Do you want to be part of a dynamic and fast growing company, where you will work with a multidisciplinair team to change our food system? Then join us as Lead Engineer!

As lead engineer you will take care of the optimal engineering techniques for our self-developed and worldwide patented technology, which creates the ideal conditions for plant growth. The Projects & Services department - in which you will work - consists of engineers, work planners and project managers. You report directly to the head of the department. Organization-wide you will also interact with plant scientists, engineers, commercial growers and business support.

Who we're looking for:

In your role as lead engineer you will have an impact on the way the world is fed. To make this impact, you are willing to travel internationally. Together with your team you will visit locations where new Plant Production Units (PPU) are built. You will supervise a team of engineers and build new and existing (to be expended) PPU’s. Besides overseeing the current projects, you will also jump in and help when needed. You will maintain relationships with internal and external parties and ensure proper handover to the service organization when PPU’s are realized. Additionally, you will be an important link when it comes to transferring information retrieved internally from other teams to external teams.

Your profile:

  • Minimum bachelor working and thinking level, preferably with a completed technical education;
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and designing new construction and expansion projects, preferably international;
  • You have knowledge of climate-, light and/or cooling systems;
  • Experience with programs such as AutoCAD;
  • You have strong communication skills and are a real coach for your team;
  • You feel comfortable in a company under construction, but are also focused on improving existing processes within the PPU’s.

This will be your new job, because:

  • You are going to have an important role in and contribute to our food system;
  • You will become part of a fast growing and international company and you will have the opportunity to help build PPU’s in different countries.
  • You will join an organization with an open culture where internal lines of communication are short;
  • We focus on you as a person with your own responsibilities;
  • We offer you a good competitive salary package, based on your experience;
  • You love - like us - having lunch together, company drinks, inspiration events and other activities, of course, now, remotely.

How do we at PlantLab contribute to making our world a better place? With the further development and exploitation of our PPU’s. This way we are making impact on the way the world is fed. These PPU’s require less resources than traditional and biological production facilities and provide our growing world population with fresh fruits and vegetables. These are safe, affordable, tastier and more nutritious.

Made your choice?

Will you join us in working to improve the future of our food supply? The first introduction meeting will be with Danny Poelen and Tom Tellings of Farrow + Dutch. After this, a personal meeting is planned with Janneke van Gelder of PlantLab, followed by interviews with Robbert Faas and several future colleagues. A test may be part of the procedure. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask Tom at tom@farrow.nl or 06-34465828.

Growing plants is our nature. We are firm believers in being the change for the global food chain. At PlantLab we produce fresh food locally, without pesticides, using 95% less water and less land. Developing and operating custom-built indoor farms at a commercial scale is our core business. We are already making an impact in the Netherlands, USA, and the Bahamas. We bring together highly motivated engineers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and global leaders to strengthen this movement.
