Start date: We prefer students able to start as soon as possible, no later than Q3 2021

Duration: 6 months

This internship assignment requires a 40 hours per week presence.

In this role, you have the opportunity to

Gain first hand insights into driving state-of-the-art procurement excellence programs in a highly professional, global procurement organization.

Main programs are:

  • Design for eXcellence (DfX) which is a methodology to improve integral gross margin over the entire End-to-End value chain by bringing together cross-functional expertise and leveraging data-analytics tools.
  • Negotiation eXcellence (NeX) which supports supplier account managers in high-impact negotiations by e.g. applying game theory and mechanism design.
  • Supplier innovation brings together internal needs for innovation with suppliers' innovation roadmaps.
  • Procurement strategy and transformation in general

You are responsible for

Supporting the procurement excellence consultants in driving their programs. For DfX this includes setting up DfX conventions and supporting data-analytics, for NeX it includes supporting the preparation and execution of high-impact negotiations and for supplier innovation, it includes organizing supplier innovation events.

You are a part of

The newly created procurement excellence team dedicated to the Philips Domestic Appliances business. We are a multi-cultural, globally operating internal consultant team with winning spirit and open mind, truly believing in continuous improvement, lean, strategic planning and best practice sharing as the road to make our customers successful.

The team drives state-of-the-art procurement excellence programs, which assure operational excellence and strategic transformation towards maximizing procurement performance in meeting business objectives.

You will be working at our head office in Amsterdam.

Due to the current COVID19 situation, we do support you working from home. Depending the rules and conditions as provided by our Philips Management, we might be able to grand you visit our offices.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Studying towards your Master in Sciences in: Economics, Business Administration, Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Supply Chain, Industrial), Mathematics or related field
  • Strong analytical, problem solving skills combined with a strong business sense and a drive for business impact
  • Ability to manage and organize both your own work as well as projects and meetings
  • Hands-on and project driven mentality, positive mindset and ambitious
  • Interest in how data analysis tools (e.g. TCO, value stream mapping, 5* Why) and/or microeconomics (Mechanism Design/ Game-/ Auction Theory) are applied in procurement practice
  • Good Excel skills
  • Fluent in oral and written English
