Our Future Leaders Programme will ignite the leader in you. This unique programme is designed to develop Unilever’s Future Leaders (UFL) by providing challenging and purposeful opportunities that accelerate their readiness to take on business leadership roles.

ABOUT UNILEVER

Unilever is one of the largest global fast-moving consumer goods companies that owns some of the world’s much-loved brands such as Dove, Robijn, Ben & Jerrys, Lipton and Unox. Our products sold under our many brands are used 2 billion times a day and in over half the households on the planet.

We want our business to flourish, and we know that our success depends on others flourishing around us. That's why our purpose is to make sustainable living commonplace, and why sustainable, long-term growth is at the heart of our business model.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

By joining the Unilever Future Leaders Supply Chain Programme, we want to show you how Supply Chain Management is responsible for the whole process, from sourcing the raw materials to producing it, and to delivering a good quality product onto the supermarket shelf. Getting a delicious ice cream like Magnum into the hands of a consumer in the right condition at the right time and price takes serious business expertise

You could be finding a new way to get 12,000 litres of ice cream across the desert without it melting, be responsible for setting up the supply chain network for a product innovation, or designing a more efficient distribution network to enable us to store and deliver our products more sustainably to our customers. When you work at Unilever you will have the opportunity to make a big impact every day on a local, regional, and global level. There’s always a new challenge to take on. The limitless opportunities at Unilever ask for your innovative entrepreneurship.

For example, in one rotation you could be working on the launch of a new ice cream, you will be the one that is responsible for the end to end supply chain activities such as ensuring all plan, source, make and deliver activities are completed in time in full. You would collaborate with all departments involved in such a project, such as Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain Planning, Procurement, Quality Assurance, Factories, and 3th party manufacturers.

In another rotation, you could be building partnerships with a wide range of our customers, which may include supermarkets, drug stores, discounters, online retailers, ice cream parlors and even theme parks. You will be managing the customer relationship, represent Unilever SC to the customer, and work on structural improvement projects and innovations in the SC together with our customers.

The limitless opportunities in all areas of the supply chain of Unilever allows you to broadly develop yourself as a (business) leader.

WHAT DO WE LOOK FOR?

Whichever area you work in – Planning, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Logistics, Innovation or Procurement – you’ll need to be ambitious, an excellent analytical thinker with a drive for getting things done and a real talent for delivering through others. While we are open to applications from all disciplines, typically (but not exclusively) a technical education or background in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Science or Maths can be an advantage.

For the Unilever Future Leaders Programme for Supply Chain at least a minimum level of speaking and understanding the Dutch language is required.

WHAT WILL THE PROGRAMME INVOLVE?

The programme is designed to accelerate you into a manager in 3 years (if your performance is up to our high standards). You’ll develop your individual leadership skills by working on live projects and roles which offer you all the experience needed to become ready for your first management role. Over three years you’ll cover at least three or four rotations to gain experience in several key areas.

In the end, we sell our products to consumers every day. That is why every UFLP will start their career joining our Field Force team for two months, to learn all about our consumers and customers. Both in retail (Supermarkets) as in Food Solutions (Chefs in Restaurants) and in Out of Home (all other outlets like gas stations & themeparks). It’s a great opportunity to really get to know the other “Future Leaders”. Please note that for Unilever the safety and health of our employees is top priority – therefore the continuation of the two-month Field Force rotation will depend on the Covid-19 situation at that time and the policy we have on travels. Either way we will make sure to create an interesting onboarding!

  • Following your stint in the Field Force team, you will cover rotations in several parts of our SC organization to build a broad understanding and experience as a SC professional. This can be in the MCO Benelux (local Go-to-Market organisation), in a Sourcing Unit (e.g. Hellendoorn; Ben & Jerry’s factory), one of our Hubs and/or Procurement.
  • Your rotations could be based at different business units across Europe and you will need to be flexible about where you are based during your time in the programme.
  • Support and empowerment: We'll support you every step of the way to senior management, but much of your progress will be up to you. You'll need to be focused and ambitious to get where you want, find opportunities and take responsibility for your own development. You will be linked to a mentor, who is a senior SC leader, who can support and advise you.
  • During the three years of your programme you will be learning and developing in the rotations you will be doing, having real responsibility and impact. This development is supported with a learning roadmap full of internal and external training focused on developing your individual leadership skills.
  • We have a proven tradition of developing our own purpose driven leaders and encourage innovative thinking. Future focused feedback and challenging goals drives innovation and ambition within a performance culture and an inclusive and informal environment. We will push you to achieve your potential and make a big business impact where you learn from the best. Firsthand experience – it’s the fastest way to learn.

WHY SHOULD YOU APPLY?

  • Work with exciting brands that give you a chance to make a genuine impact on people’s lives.
  • A real job from day one that continuously tests and develops your skills.
  • Local & international exposure to stay close to local consumers and harness global expertise.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to see the big picture
  • Support along the way with great (learning) development opportunities
  • Competitive primary and secondary benefits such as salary and company pension
