Basic Function

This position is responsible for superior Occupational Health & Hygiene (OH) performance, leading continuous improvement initiatives, developing and delivering best practices and optimizing the OH function in the EAI region.

The position includes responsibilities for leading the complex regional OH network, monitoring regulatory, scientific and industry challenges to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvement in Occupational Hygiene and Health.

This position actively contributes to the Company’s global workforce health and productivity management to demonstrate, safeguard and improve the value of the human capital beyond Industrial Health.

The position will have global program responsibilities and maintain tactical implementation / support for facilities in the EAI region.

The role has broad regional accountability associated with EAI and must be capable of working independently with a supervisor located in another area of the world.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Actively contributes to development of Companies OH strategy, goals and performance indicators.
  • Develop, plan, implement, and manage OH programs and procedures in compliance with companies Operational Excellence expectations.
  • Owner of the company Health Risk Assessment (HRA) process. Oversees risk assessment and monitoring studies.
  • Develops stress management processes to minimize adverse health effect and optimize employee performance.
  • Ensures compliance with EAI regulations pertaining to Occupational Health. Monitors regional regulations.
  • Provide tactical support to facilities located in EAI region as needed. Many EAI locations (>60%) do not have industrial hygienists and need additional support. Many sites utilize contract medical providers that need on-going guidance on company specific requirements. Drive consistency in program rollout, use expertise to supplement site personnel and ensure compliance with regulations and company requirements.
  • Point of contact for EAI health related incident investigations
  • Leads the EAI Health Focal Point Network (consisting of physicians, HSE Managers and industrial hygienists).
  • Represents the Company’s OH function in external regulatory and professional networks
  • Assists in monitoring the skills and capabilities of those implementing Companies Health and Medical Management Standard. Responsible for mentoring less experienced site health professionals.
  • Responsible for developing and monitoring the Corporate Health budget for EAI.
  • Responsible for providing direct Health and Safety leadership and support for the Rotterdam Service Center

Qualifications

Education:

BS/MS/PHD degree in industrial, occupational hygiene or related field (eg occupational/environmental health), certified occupational hygienist or occupational health physician.

Work Experience:

Minimum 10 years specific functional experience in the areas of occupational health and hygiene, risk assessment, health management is required.

Licenses & Certifications:

Applicable Professional Certifications are highly desirable.

Have working knowledge of more than one European Language. English proficiency is required
