This position will be based in Wageningen in the Netherlands.

Your tasks and responsibilities.

As a Computer science or Data science Breeding intern you will provide computational/programming support to an innovative project in Brassica breeding that aims to speed up breeding efficiency by developing an application which will be used in the daily pollination work.

Activities can include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and develop digital workflow solution that can help to automate our daily pollination work.
  • Developing an app that enables breeding users to speed up pollination efficiency and analyze the pollination related data.
  • Contribute to connecting the new app to our current data system and to external devices such as label printers and seed counters.

Who you are?

  • You have knowledge and experience with data handling, coding (Python, R, C++) and a high interest in practical breeding work.
  • You are currently a Master or Bachelor Student. Student with the background in Agriculture is preferred.
  • Have a desire to attain applied research experience.
  • Strong communication skills are required.
  • Fluent both in writing and speaking of the Dutch and English language;
  • Description of critical skills: self-motivated, innovative, independent, networker, agile, creative and result orientated.
  • You are available to start at the beginning of February 2021 for around 6-8 months.
