During your time at TNO, you will work with new video compression ideas, as your main task will be to implement the next generation video compression tools that can face the challenges faced in video compression.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
You will start by developing reference implementations of video compression tools. For this, you will work closely with the TNO researchers who are experts in video coding and are actively participating in the definitions of standards developed by organizations such as MPEG, IETF and ISO. You are expected to evaluate your implementation, and suggest and test ways to improve it, which will give you the chance of actually contributing to an video coding standard.
The scope and the complexity of the work will be fitted to what we think is best, depending on if you aim for an internship (minimum 2 months) or a final project such as a Master Thesis (minimum 6 months). You will perform your research work at the TNO premises and in particular you can make use of TNO's media-lab, the place where we develop new video coding techniques.
