Methods Analytics is currently recruiting for a Test Engineer to join our Sheffield /Bristol/ London Office on a permanent basis. This role will require flexibility to travel to client sites.

Requirements

The Test Engineer will be expected to work as part of the Methods Analytics Delivery team. The work load will be a blend of client assignments and internal company projects. They will be intimately involved in ensuring the quality of the project outputs in a methodical manner and will regularly evaluate against the project's specifications.

The Test Engineer will:

  • Develop and author effective strategies and test plans.
  • Work collaboratively within an agile team to deliver and maintain a suite of web-based products.
  • Use the appropriate range of test methods and tools to ensure a robust and high-quality solution is delivered.
  • Test automation, exploratory testing and best practice in the team.
  • Work with the team to create acceptance criteria by analysing features and requirements.
  • Analyse quality and continually assess risk to ensure that high quality solutions are delivered.
  • Review and analyse system specifications.
  • Execute test cases (manual or automated) and analyse results.
  • Report bugs and errors to development teams.
  • Help troubleshoot issues.
  • Educate and support the rest of the delivery teams with testing, educate internal and external stakeholders and work with delivery teams to define ‘quality’.
  • Contribute to team culture and continuous team learning and development.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate:

  • Good working knowledge of test automation frameworks, and tools such as Selenium and RSpec.
  • Proficiency in testing web-based software.
  • Strong eye for detail.
  • Identify functional areas where further testing is required.
  • Experience in creating and executing a test plan effectively.
  • Reasonable accuracy in estimating the time / effort required to complete planned testing.
  • Good working knowledge of test processes and best practices.
  • Ability to create clear, concise and readable test scripts both automated and manual.
  • Experience of Web based testing and the related challenges.
  • The ability to ensure cross-browser consistency.

Desirable skills:

  • Experience with JIRA
  • Programming experience
  • Knowledge of web standards and protocols
