Graduate Piping Engineers

Piping Engineering

The Piping Engineering Group enables KBR to deliver some the world’s largest, most complex and challenging projects, successfully engineering solutions in the design and construction of a vast range of plants. These range from offshore oil and gas facilities, including FPSO vessels, as well as onshore refineries, gas processing, LNG and petrochemical plants. We are involved at all stages of the project comprising conceptual design, engineering, procurement and construction through to commissioning and start-up. The Piping Engineering Group is at the heart of projects driving the layout of the plant and providing the main thrust in bringing the process flow diagrams to life. We are responsible for the design and specification of each and every piping system, including large bore piping to key equipment such as pressure vessels, columns and rotating machinery. Our role also extends to on-site support during fabrication and construction.

As part of the design process, we utilise state-of-the-art, industry standard CAD software and CAE analysis tools to develop a virtual 3D model. This model facilitates design reviews, drawing production and procurement of materials. The nature of the work provides our engineers with a number of interesting and stimulating engineering challenges and often requires interfacing with multiple disciplines.

Our engineers are involved all aspects of piping engineering, consisting of plant layout and pipe routing, selection and specification of valves and piping components, stress analysis of piping systems and piping support design.

KBR’s fully accredited Graduate Training Programme for Piping Engineers is recognised by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). Graduate Engineers are encouraged to gain Chartered Engineering Status through the IMechE approved monitored professional development scheme. Mentors are assigned to all graduates to provide support and advice throughout the training programme.

KBR undertakes a wide variety of projects from around the globe. Piping Engineers often have the opportunity to travel and work abroad. Experience can be gained in KBR global execution centres, fabrication yards, on site, and on vendor visits.

The Graduate Training Programme offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of global engineering projects and explore each aspect of the Piping Engineering department, in order to gain a broad basis of knowledge and experience. This basis enables graduates to develop a solid foundation upon which to build a satisfying and rewarding career.
