The Mitchells & Butlers Undergraduate Work Placement scheme is open to undergraduate students who love the idea of working in a fast paced and guest-focused environment. If you want to see behind the scenes in one of our multi-million pound sites, and are on a 4 year programme which require a 12 month placement, our undergraduate programme is perfect for you.

We’re a member of the FTSE 200 and run some of the UK’s best-loved restaurant and pub brands including All Bar One, Miller & Carter, Vintage Inns, Nicholson’s, Harvester, Toby Carvery, Browns and more. We run businesses that guests love to eat and drink in.

Our undergraduate work placement scheme is the perfect platform for students looking to progress through a career in Hospitality. If you are eager to learn and have a passion for guest service; enjoy working in a team environment, have excellent communication skills and thrive off delivering great results we would love to hear from you.

What does our scheme give you?

We’ll give you the opportunity to learn how our exciting businesses work. Initially you will be placed in a busy commercial kitchen for two months before then moving front of house to work with our guests, powering through Profit & Loss accounts; our year-long scheme provides a taste of everything. There’s always opportunity to progress, as you develop you will have the chance to run shifts and manage teams of up to 30 people.

We take a blended but structured approach to our learning. Starting as a team member, you can expect to learn mostly on the job to begin with, shadowing others whilst growing your confidence. Throughout the year, your responsibilities will increase, and you will also complete a project to implement in your business.

What will we offer you?

  • £15,000 for 35 hours a week over a 12-month period (paid every 4 weeks)

As part of the process you’ll attend an assessment centre day, provisionally arranged for February 2020. These are an ideal opportunity to meet with our General Managers and Area Managers and find out more about us, so why not apply?

The closing date for applications is 10th January 2020, although we reserve the right to close earlier. Applications are welcomed from both internal and external candidates. It is important that applicants are flexible on location and have the ability to travel on a daily basis to one of our sites.

Please note, successful candidates in 2020 will be placed in one of our businesses in locations around the South-East of England.
