Automated Radar regression testing using antenna simulation and Cucumber

About us

With 80.000 talents working in 68 countries, we are one of the biggest high-tech employers in the field of safety and security. In the Netherlands, where 2000 employees are based, we are located in four cities: Huizen, Delft, Eindhoven and Hengelo (HQ). Together with an extensive ecosystem of knowledge partners, customers and suppliers, we work on radars for naval vessels, cyber security solutions, transportation systems, communication equipment for land forces, cryogenic cooling solutions, research & development for radar tech (in collaboration with TU Delft).

The software department of the Technical Unit Processing is responsible for the software development in radar- and optical sensors for worldwide navies- and air defense systems. The work is performed in multi-disciplinary teams with specialists in system engineering, functional sensor design and design and realization of real-time embedded systems.

These Sensor software systems are tested without its physical antenna hardware using an Antenna simulation device. All the software parts must be build and deployed on the test hardware automatically according to a continuous integration concept. In order to execute these tests a number of different tools are required.

About the assignment

Are you interested in working with state of the art software concepts like automated regression testing, behavior driven testing using cucumber frameworks and to learn how to test a complete radar software system? The goal is to extend an existing automated test framework and adapt this framework so it can;

  • connect to our radar and to our radar test and validation tools.
  • run tests using our antenna simulation tool

Affinity

  • Linux, testing
  • Technologies involved: Java programming, Cucumber, SOAP, Maven, Jenkins, Bash scripting, GIT

Thales offers…

  • An interesting internship or graduation assignment in an international high tech environment
  • An open and flexible working environment
  • An excellent internship allowance
  • Its own student association where you can participate in educational and fun activities.
