The Director Product Management Financial Risk serves as the organizational lead for the Financial Risk Product and applies his/her expertise to support the vision and strategic direction for the Product globally.

The role defines the overall strategy for the Financial Risk Product, as well as the functional requirements and go-to-market strategy. The role supports the Sales team in complex sales cases in today’s complex selling environment. The individual will divide his/her time between clients, new initiatives, product enhancements, existing platform and services and knowledge building activities.

The Director Product Management Financial Risk validates that the final product or prototype satisfies the defined market requirements and needs, in conjunction with Sales and product development. A key aspect of the role is to lead and manage the engagement with the market and all external stakeholders to identify market trends, requirements and develop solutions to meet the market needs. The Director Product Management Financial Risk should work to be perceived as the thought leader in the market and in the domain. The role understands, articulates, and implements best practices related to the product. The Director Product Management Financial Risk will manage a team of approximately 15 individuals

The role will be based in London reporting into VP Product Management and Platform Services.

Key Individual Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain expert knowledge of FRR products, services and markets including features, benefits, intended use and competitive position by maintaining an expert knowledge of industry standards, methodologies, processes, and best practices; understanding business opportunities, establishing and maintaining competence in all current and planned versions of products in the relevant domain area; researching and learning how the products fit into client processes and contribute to their business performance; monitoring industry trends and emerging practices in the market by actively participating in client implementation projects.
  • Develop, manage and support the global strategy as well as the functional requirements and go-to-market strategy for solutions by monitoring strategic and macro changes; initiating market research; seeking new opportunities within the FRR Financial Risk space; creating and supporting the business case; monitoring the competitive landscape; participating in industry conferences; identifying best opportunities for lead generation and execution; launching product innovations and by the formulating the value proposition.
  • Be a thought leader in the space by publishing articles and comment pieces on trends and topics influencing the FRR Financial Risk business; speaking at and participating in conferences and webinars; writing comment pieces and white papers, articulating progressive and innovative ideas, presenting opportunity and solutions where none were expected; successfully implementing their ideas; representing FRR within the industry; communicating the FRR competitive advantage to customers in a compelling articulated manner; developing trusted partner relationships with customers.
  • Leads requirements analysis activities with customers and prospects to gather requirements and configuration specifications by engaging in workshops with customers and prospects; translating the requirements into the product management process; identifying new features to ensure that the products have the highest value; scoping tactical and strategic solutions required to address customer requirements, validating customers’ unmet needs, recommending solutions that optimize value for both the customer and FRR; proposing and adapting solutions, as necessary, to ensure customer needs are satisfied.
  • Lead the new product development cycle by providing input to the development roadmap, by signing-off the business and user requirements and final product prior to release, in conjunction with product development, thereby ensuring the product satisfies the defined requirements and needs, working together with the development team to provide expertise in scoping the solutions; assuming leadership for the launch of new solutions and introduction of product strategies.
  • Assume full ownership of the Platform and own the creation and management of the Application Engines’ roadmap both internal and external, own the Application Engines’ technical solution strategy for the complete lifecycle, work with Product Development to turn the roadmap into a workable backlog that delivers against the vision for our Financial Risk Applications, work with the QA team to jointly define acceptable quality standards for release, support agile development methodology and internal and external evangelism of FRR products.
  • Support the Sales team in complex sales cases in today’s complex selling environment by providing expertise in demonstrations, meetings and workshops with prospects, validating capabilities and gaps before they feed into the product development process; providing expertise to the sales team in preparation of customer pitches, contributing to RFI/RFP responses; identifying and mitigating potential risks of deal closure, organizing and presenting industry content at customer facing workshops, proposing solutions to prospects, delivering the required expertise throughout the sales processes; introducing new solutions to their problems and illuminating problems prospects overlook thereby contributing to the sales process.

Qualifications and Skillset:

  • Education: Degree in Economics/Financial Risk/Banking or Information Technology
  • Product management experience and / or Project management experience. Ideally within software development companies servicing the financial industry or a Bank.
  • Knowledge within Risk, Finance, Accounting, IFRS and/or US GAAP.
  • Experience in Regulatory Content and Regulatory Calculators is a key differentiator.
  • Good English speaking and writing skills
  • Effective communicator at all levels including in front of large groups
  • Understanding of project delivery and acceptance processes ideally under the agile development methodologies
  • Team player, and able to work on own initiative. Assertive and results driven
  • Ability to work independently and proactive.
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Flexible to travel but overall limited.
