Getting things to happen how they should, when they should, and within budget, is both a science and an art. On this programme you’ll learn exactly how it’s done. The programme duration varies between two to four years, depending on local business needs, but is aimed at developing you against the Association for Project Management (APM) framework and toward project management chartership. Over the course of the programme you will be developed through placements on real projects, assignments, formal qualifications, and you will receive mentoring from some of the top project professionals in the engineering sector.

Cavendish Nuclear is the UK’s leading nuclear services company, with ambitious plans for growth at home and abroad. We are a wholly-owned subsidiary of Babcock International Group, delivering complex projects across the nuclear lifecycle. Our work includes supporting delivery of new build nuclear power plants, extending the working-life of existing nuclear plants and safely decommissioning legacy sites. Whether on our own, or with one of our partners, we apply our proven experience and trusted expertise to deliver complex nuclear programmes safer, faster, at lower cost. We’re looking for graduates with a wide range of qualities, including high technical skills, good interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn and adapt to new circumstances.

OUR LOCATIONS

You could be based in a number of locations, so you will need to be ready and willing to move throughout your programme. You’ll probably call Warrington, Bristol, Leicester or Newbury home, but you could also work from client sites (including nuclear power stations, or Sellafield in Cumbria and Dounreay in Scotland).

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Expect to work on every kind of project across our organisation – from design and manufacture to in-service support and capability enhancement projects. Whatever the task at hand, risks need to be identified and managed, stakeholder requirements satisfied, and the whole thing delivered on time and to budget.

Along the way, you’ll develop strong relationships with colleagues in commercial, financial and procurement functions over the course of the programme. That’s because watching our finances is as important as watching the clock when delivering a project. With that professional network behind you, you’ll have everything you need to tackle anything that comes your way.

WHAT YOU’LL GET OUT OF IT

We’ll help you become a true professional. Because our programme is based on the Association for Project Management (APM) Body of Knowledge, you’ll get experience in all the key elements of the APM Competence Framework. Combine this with the learning from the best project managers in industry and support from your own mentor and you’ll be ready to go for the APMP qualification. And let’s not forget a competitive starting salary of £29k - £31k.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

You’ll need a minimum of a 2:1 Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. You’ll also need to satisfy the MOD’s security requirements (and may need to complete a medical assessment). Note: for the Marine – Plymouth programme, the entry requirements are a 2:2 degree.
