You’re a 2018 or 2019 graduate in chemistry (all chemistry related disciplines), pharmacy / pharmaceutical sciences, chemical/mechanical/device engineering or physics with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (minimum 2:1) – or you’re confident of gaining such a degree in 2020. Do you want to use your passion for science and technology to deliver medicines that transform the lives of patients, now and in the future?

We are a global, innovation-driven biopharmaceutical business. The Pharmaceutical Technology & Development Graduate Programme at AstraZeneca spans the entire product lifecycle – from influencing the design of new molecules, to ensuring the successful launch and supply of new medicines, and optimising the production of established brands. Ultimately, Pharmaceutical Technology & Development turns molecules into medicines.

On the programme, you’ll be exposed to any part of the lifecycle, as you make a visible contribution to the delivery of new medicines from day one. Whether you’re based in the UK or Sweden, you’ll be part of a team that thinks innovatively about how ground-breaking science and technology can drive the design and development of future medicines. You will be integrated into an incredibly talented team of scientists, with a diverse range of ideas and perspectives, who will support you to take your career to the next level.

What does the programme involve?

The two-year programme starts in September 2020 and includes three distinct rotations through different areas of Pharmaceutical Technology & Development. These will provide you with broad exposure to multiple areas of basic and applied scientific research, and experience of the medicines design, development and commercialisation process through the application of science to current drug projects. You can choose from a wide range of placements – and we’ll do all we can to meet your preferences. You could find yourself designing new drug delivery solutions or synthetic routes for drug substance manufacture, developing and transferring robust routes for clinical and commercial manufacture, or ensuring the timely supply of investigational products for clinical programmes.

You may, potentially, be based at an AstraZeneca site in another country or in another part of our business, such as Pharmaceutical Sciences, Research & Development, or Operations. You’ll also complete our global graduate development programme. Over the two years, you’ll be part of a graduate cohort that comes together in one of our global locations to develop the leadership and self-management skills required for success as well as being supported by internal mentors throughout the programme. You can expect a competitive salary and benefits, potential for future employment and mentor support from the outset.
