What is the Retail Graduate

If you’re looking for a career in hospitality and are ambitious to become a General Manager of your own pub, bar or restaurant, then we’d love to hear from you. From traditional pubs to city centre bars - we’re confident that we have a role you’ll love!

Here at Mitchells & Butlers, we have a Retail Graduate Scheme; aimed at creative and business minded graduates who in just over two years, could be running one of our award-winning businesses. We have 16 market-leading brands such as Harvester, Miller & Carter, Toby Carvery and All Bar One. We know it takes different ingredients to make the perfect dish, and our teams are the same too. That’s why you’ll work with our Recruitment Managers and Area Managers to decide which brand of ours suits your journey best.

You’ll be placed into one of our 1,700 businesses as an Assistant Manager. You’ll have the support of an amazing management and award-winning Learning & Development team around you. You will drive your own progression over a period of 18 – 24 months; gaining the leadership skills needed to manage a successful team and run your own thriving business.

The scheme follows a structured programme formed of 5 main elements:

  • On the Job Learning

  • Technical training

  • Soft skill development

  • Off Job Development workshops

  • Networking opportunities

The application process...

As part of the process you’ll attend an assessment centre day, which are hosted regularly across the UK. These are a great opportunity to meet with our Area Managers and Recruitment team and get a flavour of #lifeatMAB.

What you’ll need to apply…

  • 2.2 degree (predicted or achieved) or equivalent

  • A passion for hospitality

  • Ability to role model our values and brand standards

  • A real team player

  • Ability to keep cool under pressure

Flexibility is really important to us, so we’ll always do our best to work around you, however, to find your perfect role an element of flexibility is required, so the ability to drive is desirable.
