About the job

At Google, we aim to foster Googley work environments that are collaborative, friendly and fun. The Facilities Management team brings our spaces to life as you oversee the daily operations of our offices. While roles with similar names at other companies can be far more mundane, you're a creative, organized customer service specialist, who takes pride in seeing things run smoothly and efficiently. You go out of your way to make sure that clients are not only satisfied, but singing Google's praises. You're comfortable in a fast-paced environment with the highest standards of excellence. You aren't afraid to have fun with your job, and bring an enthusiasm, dedication and a collaborative spirit to build and maintain office spaces that facilitate some of the world's most cutting edge innovation.

As a Data Center (DC) Facilities Regional Manager, you will join the Data Center Leadership team in readiness for growth. You will be based in an existing DC site as part of the on-boarding/training with the possibility to relocate afterwards.

In this role, you will lead a large team in 7x24 data center operations, across multiple data centers, meeting service level objectives with internal teams on uptime, efficiencies, and cost. You will grow the area team to meet the needs of the business and leverage technical talent across the campus, identifying key hiring needs for area data centers.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We're always on call to keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for facility management of an area that will include multiple data centers and global programs within Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
  • Lead area budget planning and operational cost control oversight for multiple data centers.
  • Set strategy and plan deployments across an area that will include multiple datacenters.
  • Lead area efforts to integrate Google-wide strategy and execution with internal and external business partners. Leverage technical talent across areas and identify key hiring needs for area data centers.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and innovation in approaching traditional datacenter problems and emergent challenges.

Though Google has grown a lot since it opened in 1998, we still maintain a small company feel. At lunchtime, almost everyone eats in the office café, sitting at whatever table has an opening and enjoying conversations with Googlers from different teams. Our commitment to innovation depends on everyone being comfortable sharing ideas and opinions. Every employee is a hands-on contributor, and everyone wears several hats. Because we believe that each Googler is an equally important part of our success, no one hesitates to pose questions directly to anyone, at any level, in the company.
