Afstudeeropdracht: WO
Studierichting(en): Wiskunde, Technische Natuurkunde, Elektrotechniek
Titel van de opdracht: Advanced Radar Processing
About us
With 80.000 talents working in 68 countries, we are one of the biggest high-tech employers in the field of safety and security. In the Netherlands, where 2000 employees are based, we are located in four cities: Huizen, Delft, Eindhoven and Hengelo (HQ). Together with an extensive ecosystem of knowledge partners, customers and suppliers, we work on radars for naval vessels, cyber security solutions, transportation systems, communication equipment for land forces, cryogenic cooling solutions, research & development for radar tech (in collaboration with TU Delft).
The department System Engineering is, amongst other things, responsible for the development of radar signal and data processing techniques for radar and EO sensors, including advanced tracking algorithms. Tracking is an important element of radar processing and can be described as ‘the processing of sensor measurements obtained from objects in order to estimate the states of these objects’.
ABOUT THE ASSIGNMENT
Within the department System Engineering there is a continuous interest in the development of advanced radar processing. The trend is towards integrated processing that comprises the simultaneous detection, tracking and classification of targets.
Research topics include: target tracking and classification, and related to that, modeling of received radar measurements, dynamic modeling of objects and their environment, exploitation of external knowledge (e.g. digital charts) to improve the radar output, Bayesian filtering and machine learning.
The exact topic of the project can be adapted according to the background, the interests of the student and the duration of the project. Students who are interested in an applied research project in the above fields, are encouraged to contact us to further discuss the possibilities.
