Background

The Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) team is seeking an additional member to work with the Legal Compliance and KIM teams and to support the IAO for Personal Data. This is a new role working alongside others in Information Assurance, helping to embed new ways of working where compliance is business as usual.

Job Purpose

To provide an advisory support service to support our capability and effectiveness in meeting our compliance obligations, both external and in line with Met Office policies and procedures. This job holder works closely with members of the Legal and KIM team, with the IAO for Personal Data and provides support and guidance to those in 1st and 2nd line defence across the business. This job will help build the organisation’s Knowledge and Information (KIM) maturity, embedding new ways of working that incorporate compliance as part of business as usual.

Job Responsibilities

Raise awareness and increase understanding to help the business make informed decisions by undertaking analysis, identifying and directing issues, managing enquiries and providing information and guidance in connection with compliance and information assurance.

Provide coordination and secretariat support for meetings and other structured activities such as training programmes, organising events, managing actions and providing reports and updates as required.

Assist with responses to requests for information in particular in connection with GDPR, ensuring our processes are followed and timetable for responses are met.

Provide support to the Personal Data IAO and work with the HR team to respond to request for information and support efficient and effective information management and ways of working.

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

1. Experience of contributing to programmes of work including auditing, root cause analysis and evaluation to identify issues and to troubleshoot

2. Proven customer service experience specifically the ability to work on your own with end users to ensure their work meets business requirements

3. A track record of excellent communication (verbal, written and listening) skills with an ability to communicate with a varied audience and to challenge constructively

4. Evidence of multi-tasking, self-prioritising (where appropriate) and dealing with conflicting and tight deadlines.

5 Proven team player who can work collaboratively with other key stakeholders.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

1. Knowledge of some or all of the following: statutory and regulatory obligations in connection with information management, handling and protection, and intellectual property rights . ISO9001, Cabinet Office Guidance, Security Policy Framework, Open Data Standards and Cyber Essentials.

2. Desire to learn new skills and take on responsibility

3. Experience in implementing, reviewing and improving information management practices in an organisation
