We’re looking for:

A talented and ambitious individual with experience delivering outstanding UI and visual designs for complex products; to sit within the product team and report to the Lead Product Designer.

A fantastic opportunity to join an established national news media group with a fast-growing digital business and work on products at the heart of news consumption that are massive drivers of growth for the group.

The Team

The Product Team is responsible for defining the vision for the products that millions of our valued customers use every day.

We have a strong focus on effectively serving our users; on working closely with stakeholders across the commercial, editorial and development teams to create products that are beautiful, functional and profitable.

We’re looking for someone who has gained solid Visual and UI skills and experience across multiple platforms. You’ll be able to tell a great user story and clearly articulate the rationale for your work. We will expect you to be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of how to balance commercial and editorial requirements with a core focus on user-centric design.

You will be confident in presenting your ideas to marketing teams, to stakeholders within the business and collaborating with all members of the product team and importantly, you will enjoy taking ownership of your work and ideas.

You will be hands on, designing digital display ads for our large campaigns, designing emails, enhancing digital customer experience wherever possible, as well as more traditional UI tasks.

About the role

  • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
  • Develop UI mock-ups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look
  • Gathering and evaluating user requirements, in collaboration with product managers and engineers
  • Working with the product lead and creative designer to incorporate a visual or brand identity into the finished product.
  • Prepare and present rough drafts and digital solutions to internal teams and key stakeholders
  • Constantly looks to raise the creative bar for digital deliverables: campaigns, onsite and offsite experience, emails etc

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Developing and maintaining a robust UI brand guidelines.
  • Design and maintenance, making sure homepage, product pages, and other vital parts of the experience flow beautifully, communicate our mission, and the products simply and inspire conversion.
  • Work closely with the creative designer to ensure consistency and cohesion throughout all brands and products.
  • Support with illustration and animation to add personality and clarity for our campaigns.
  • Work with product team to deliver UI design consistency across all touchpoints.
  • Work with Product Lead and Creative designer to conceptualise and deliver art direction for campaigns, across all social and digital marketing collateral.
  • Bring new and exciting developments, design practices and ideas to the product team to inspire them.
