At a glance

As an Associate within Corporate Banking Clients (CBC), you will be part of the Capital Structuring & Debt Advisory team and report to the Head of Capital Structuring & Debt Advisory (CSDA).

The Debt Advisory team, part of Capital Structuring & Debt Advisory (CSDA), operates within Corporate Banking Clients (CBC) and specializes in providing independent and strategic advice on capital structures and tailored debt raising solutions. The team advises clients on complex and high-profile debt transactions, offering guidance to corporates and sponsors across various industries, with a particular focus on renewable energy, mobility, digital infrastructure, and transition finance opportunities.

Leveraging deep sector expertise and strong relationships with banks, institutional investors, and alternative capital providers, the team delivers innovative financing solutions to optimize capital structures and support business growth. Collaboration is integral to success, with frequent interaction across internal teams such as sector teams (Sector Advisors and Sector Bankers), M&A, Syndications, DCM, Project Finance, and Leveraged Finance, ensuring tailored and effective solutions for clients.

Debt Advisory is part of the Capital Structuring & Debt Advisory team, comprising 10 FTEs located in Amsterdam, supporting ABN AMRO's European franchise across all chosen client segments of CBC.

Your job

  • Support the execution of debt advisory mandates, including refinancings and capital raising, under guidance of senior team members;
  • Contribute to origination efforts through financial analysis, market research, and preparation of pitch materials;
  • Perform detailed financial analysis, modelling, benchmarking, and credit assessments to support transaction advice;
  • Prepare high-quality client materials, including pitch books, credit stories, information memoranda, internal approvals, reports, and recommendations to clients and stakeholders (e.g. RfP, IM, credit story);
  • Support end-to-end execution processes, including lender communication, Q&A coordination, due diligence support, documentation, and process management across multiple workstreams;
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to deliver integrated financing solutions;
  • Conduct company, peer, and market research to underpin advisory insights;
  • Monitor market developments and contribute insights on debt markets, pricing trends, and investor appetite;
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery of material in line with internal standards and governance requirements;
  • Support knowledge development and contribute to a collaborative team culture.

Working environment

You will work in a collaborative, fast-paced transaction environment within a newly established Debt Advisory team, partnering closely with internal stakeholders across sector teams, M&A, Syndications, DCM, Project Finance, and Leveraged Finance to deliver integrated financing solutions for clients across ABN AMRO’s European franchise.

Your profile

For this role, we are looking for someone with a strong analytical foundation, an entrepreneurial and proactive learning mindset, combined with commercial acumen and ambition to grow within a fast-paced environment.

Hard Skills

  • Relevant experience in Debt Advisory, Project Finance or Corporate Finance / M&A;
  • Understanding of financing structures, particularly related to infrastructure, and documentation (LMA);
  • Strong financial modelling skills; experience with Project Finance modelling is a plus;
  • Solid analytical capabilities and creative problem-solving skills;
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel;
  • Ability to structure information clearly and translate analysis into client-ready materials.
