Cambridge Consultants works extensively across the consumer and industrial product and system development space and we are looking for the right commercially minded person to join this team in the role of championing our commercial strategy and client development. Delivering the high level of innovation demanded by our clients often involves the development of complex distributed systems linking sophisticated enterprise services with highly integrated electro-mechanical devices. Our knowledge and experience of developing algorithms and sensors are often at the heart of this work. Role description

Day-to-day you could be working to lead our commercial offering in Robotics and Automation across consumer and industrial markets. This is very much a client facing role, using your experience and working jointly with senior technologists to define our technical and commercial exploitation plans. The role includes diverse responsibilities ranging from providing thought leadership to clients and helping them with their investment plans, pitching to new contacts, presenting proposals, negotiating contracts, delivering awesome projects with the team or directing technology investments at Cambridge Consultants. This is all aimed at ensuring we remain at the top of our game.

Specific responsibilities

We have successfully applied combinations of artificial intelligence, computer vision and state-of-the-art electro-mechanical technology to provide clients’ with cutting edge consumer and industrial projects. You will identify, develop and convert new clients and develop existing client accounts, maximising the commercial power of our technology and technologists. This will involve:

  • Working as part of a dynamic team of other client focused specialists, programme and technical leads and together presenting the best and most relevant proposals to our clients.
  • Involvement in converted projects to act as the client’s voice for the team, be contractually responsible to CC for the delivery of the project, and achieve the best position for us to win follow on work and to grow the client account.
  • Developing a marketing strategy and providing thought leadership to enable us to grow our business in this sector through building new contacts and demonstrating market relevance, through whichever avenues and methods are appropriate.
  • Working as part of the broader business development team to plan strategic growth of our overall business.

Requirements

You will likely be either an experienced commercially focused technical consultant, business development or product management professional who has demonstrated commercial impact and ability to successfully generate business, combined with an appreciation of the potential for this area of technology. This will be evidenced by you having many of the following:

  • Passion for technology and understanding of the potential for robotics and automation
  • Proven ability and track record of success within a consumer and/or industrial sector using related technology
  • Experience working in a technology based product environment – an ability to work well with technologists including software engineers, mechanical designers, electronics engineers as well as mathematicians and physicists
  • Professional services experience – either through working for a professional services company, or through engaging with technology/engineering focussed professional services organisations
  • Technical background e.g. technical education and/or experience in a technical product development environment
