Role and responsibilities

As a Senior Computer Systems Engineer within ASML’s Business Line Applications, you will join the Software Facility & Infrastructure group in the Metrology and Patterning Cluster. This team develops software infrastructure, diagnostics, and facilities for YieldStar and E-Beam product lines. You will lead technical decisions and guide the transition to a future-proof computing platform. Your expertise in computer systems, networking, and automation will enable you to influence architecture, mentor peers, and ensure high-quality solutions across multiple technology domains.

  • Drive architecture and design decisions for scalable computing platforms.
  • Analyze and optimize system performance across Windows and Linux environments.
  • Lead network troubleshooting and ensure robust connectivity for complex systems.
  • Own technology competence areas: Ansible, C#, Windows, Linux, Juniper OS, PowerShell, Virtualization, Containers, and Networking.
  • Automate OS installation/configuration and infrastructure provisioning.
  • Implement and maintain virtualization and containerization frameworks (e.g., KVM, Kubernetes).
  • Ensure end-to-end quality through testing strategies, including automated frameworks.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, IT infrastructure, and hardware teams in an Agile/SAFe environment.
  • Act as a technology mentor and competence owner for critical domains.

Education and experience

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years in high-tech industry with proven expertise in computer systems engineering.
  • Strong experience in:
    • Windows & Linux OS internals and performance tuning.
    • Virtualization (KVM, VMware) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
    • Network architecture, troubleshooting, experience in Juniper switches is a plus.
    • Automation tools (Ansible) and scripting (Python, PowerShell, Shell).
    • System performance analysis and diagnostic tools.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles.
  • Familiarity with software lifecycle management.
  • Experience in C# development and automated testing frameworks (e.g., Robot Framework) is a plus.
