Join ASML’s Development & Engineering Cluster: Machine Learning Internship in Software Quality & Integration

ASML is a global innovation leader in the semiconductor industry, enabling chipmakers to produce advanced microchips that power modern technology. Within ASML, the Development & Engineering cluster drives the specification and design of our cutting-edge products. The Software Quality & Integration (SQI) department ensures robust software delivery by maintaining test infrastructure, executing integration strategies, and supporting continuous deployment. The Test Infrastructure group within SQI builds and optimizes hardware and automation solutions for managing automated test execution, enabling CI/CD workflows and reliable integration of software releases.

This internship focuses on leveraging machine learning to transform software testing strategies, improving quality and reducing costs in a mission-critical process for ASML.

Your Assignment

You will join our team to industrialize and enhance machine learning models that provide real-time, data-driven test advice for software changes and deliveries. This project aims to optimize test coverage and improve efficiency in our software delivery pipeline. Key deliverables include:

  • Industrialization: Convert the existing prototype into a stable, maintainable, and scalable system for deployment in CI/CD environments.
  • Model Fine-Tuning: Retrain and update models with recent data to address evolving software delivery patterns.
  • System Integration: Collaborate with DevOps and development teams to embed ML solutions into delivery pipelines.
  • Monitoring & Optimization: Implement performance monitoring and continuous improvement mechanisms.
  • Documentation & Handover: Deliver clear, high-quality documentation for architecture, workflows, and best practices.

This is a (thesis) internship for a minimum of 6 months. It requires an investment of 32-40 hours per week, out of which 3 days per week are onsite in Veldhoven. It is set to start in February 2026.

Your Profile

To be a perfect match you:

  • Are a bachelor or master student in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Have strong skills in machine learning deployment and operationalization (MLOps experience is a plus), proficiency in Python, and familiarity with frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, or TensorFlow Serving, plus database experience (SQL).
  • Understand cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and have experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git, GitLab CI).
  • Are enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset.
  • Communicate effectively and are fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.

Other requirements you need to meet

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship.
  • You need to be located in the Netherlands to be able to perform your internship. In case you’re currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate.
  • If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
