Join the Fiber Optics Competence Team at ASML

Introduction

The Fiber Optics Competence team at ASML develops solutions that enable precise light transport and control in our advanced lithography systems. Fiber optics are essential for sensors, light sources, and thermal conditioning of mirrors. As applications become more complex, we need innovative designs beyond standard commercial solutions. This internship helps us unify approaches and create common standards for fiber optics across ASML.

Your Assignment

As an intern working within the fiber optics competence team, you will work to deepen our understanding of fiber optics physics by optimizing fiber optics designs, performing simulations and experiments, and creating documentation overviews to help set a common baseline for fiber optics at ASML. The assignment can involve the following topics:

  • Fiber optics connectorization
  • Multi-mode fiber applications
  • Beam profile optimization
  • Photonic crystal fibers

Your Profile

  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in physics, optics, photonics, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience in an optical lab (fiber optics knowledge is a plus)
  • Ability to work with data analysis tools such as MATLAB or Python
  • Proactive in solving problems and eager to learn
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing

Other Requirements

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship
  • Attach your cover letter with a clear motivation why you are interested in this internship assignment in particular
  • You need to be located in the Netherlands to perform your internship. If you are currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter should include the willingness to relocate
  • If you are a non-EU citizen studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement)
