The position

For our sea-going fleet we are looking for a Ship Electronics Engineer to work on 5 weeks on/off rotation. You will work on one of our modern offshore vessels, such as a cable laying vessel, fall pipe vessel or a jack-up wind installation vessel where you will meet a wide range of electrical and automation installations to keep you challenged. You are working closely together with the Chief Engineer in order to maintain and optimize the electronical systems on board and you make sure that the ships administration related to the electronical systems is up to date and in accordance with the Van Oord standards, e.g. ships logbook and daily reports.

Your responsibilities

You take responsibility for the electronical process and you prepare for major maintenance and modifications by drawing up a modifications list and discussing it with the Chief Engineer. Depending on the dimensions and complexity of the equipment, you can either work solo or you can team up with a colleague in the same field of expertise.

Job requirements

  • An intermediate or higher vocational qualification or equivalent, preferably in Electronic or Electrical Engineering;
  • Preferably a seaman’s book, valid medical certification and a STCW Basic Safety certificate. An ETO-license can be of added value, but is not always required;
  • Minimum of five years of work experience as Electrical Engineer or comparable, preferably in automation in a Maritime environment or industry;
  • Knowledge of network systems, communication / survey / navigations systems and remote system connections;
  • Good PLC and networks experience;
  • Depending on the vessel you are assigned to, specific knowledge is required (such as ROV’s, offshore cranes, cable lay installations, dredging equipment or LNG as fuel) is an advantage;
  • Flexibility, stress-resistance, and ability to work independently.
  • A good command of the English language;
  • The permission (in terms of visa/work permits) to work within EU-countries.

We offer

Working in an international, high demanding and dynamic organization, with the possibility to truly have impact on our business, people and environment. We offer a complete package with excellent secondary employment benefits. The package includes among other things:

  • A salary that matches your responsibilities and experiences;
  • Join an informal and motivated team on board our vessels in which a pleasant working environment and cooperation are central;
  • More than enough opportunities for personal and professional development.
