Vanderlande is a market-leading provider of logistic process automation. To be able to deliver these multi-million euro projects in a profitable way, the Strategic Costing & Verification (SC&V) department develops and maintains pricing and costing tools. These tools are used globally to calculate and price our projects and solutions. In addition, SC&V has built a feedback loop to continuously improve the tooling and models and regularly provides insights and reports on costing and pricing to the board.
The world in which Vanderlande operates is changing rapidly. Data becomes therefore more essential, also in ensuring the accurateness of our costing and pricing. In addition, more and more data becomes available. To keep up with the rapidly changing world, the SC&V team is looking into new technologies, such as machine learning and AI. The assignment for an intern would be to guide the team in possibilities to implement these new technologies within our calculation models.
The Strategic Costing & Verification (SC&V) team owns the methodology to the cost calculation process used for our Customer bids. The team maintains the calculation tools and content that are used by our global Sales teams, and ensures that the cost data in our calculation system (CAP) is adequate and accurate. Together with Business Unit stakeholders SC&V analyzes, prepares overviews on our cost data, our cost structure, and drives initiatives for further improvements, innovations and completeness of our cost models. The student will be working individually on the assignment as part of our Veghel team, and coached by a team member.
The research will provide insights regarding the possibilities of AI/Machine Learning in our calculation models.
The student will study and analyze available costing data, build a working model demonstrating a feasible AI/ML use case, and it’s usability/accuracy (proof of concept).
