Road is a fast-growing software company active in the dynamic electric driving (EV) market. We deliver the critical infrastructure that the EV charging ecosystem is built on. We do this through a purpose-built software platform supported by our unique expertise and world-class customer service. Road currently serves 20% of the Dutch market and we have firmly set our sights on repeating this success internationally. We exist at the intersection of cleantech and fintech and our mission is to make EV charging effortless for everyone.

We are looking for Software Engineers of various seniorities to achieve this.

About the role and team

We are a team of experienced engineers with a focus on getting things done. We believe in a culture of openness and autonomy, selection of the best tools for the job, and approaching work with true agile and DevOps mindsets. Today our stack is mostly node, golang, and react; backed by Mongo and deployed with kubernetes in Google Cloud platform but we are hard at work scaling it into a distributed, domain-driven, event-sourced system. While everybody specializes in something, we do get our hands dirty from the top to the bottom of the stack so you should expect the same.

We have a number of open roles for Software Engineers of various seniorities across all of our teams. We are scaling fast and there are many opportunities for impact on how things will look in the future, both in terms of platform design, and people leadership. If the idea of transforming a platform into a distributed event-sourced system, with pragmatic freedom in technology choices excites you, we will have plenty to offer in that area - all while being a part of a capable team of language-agnostic, truly full stack developers, working in a culture of openness, ownership and autonomy. We are also looking after leaders for our teams, so if you want to own something on your own and take responsibility for a group of people and delivery we will have plenty to speak about!

We like to work with people who enjoy creating new things and are dynamic with endless ideas on how to do the next thing, whether it's the next system we are designing or iterating the team's internal processes and method of working. We value potential and scrappiness over cargo-culting any particular design or development methodology. If that mindset fits you, you will be right at home.

The team is distributed (all over NL and some in UK) and the role is primarily remote, but we do have a fantastic office in Amsterdam where people work from regularly should remote work not be for you. We fly everybody in every quarter for a week of 'dev-days' filled with collaboration, exploration, and plenty of fun.

Job requirements

What do we value in our candidates;

• A strong generalist engineer with experience of node and/or golang and willingness to work (and learn) across both
• Keen interest in infrastructure/devops, kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with eventually consistent, event sourced, distributed micro architectures
• Good understanding of agile principles
• Experience with scaling of platforms and teams in a fast-growing business
• Experience with public API first approaches
