Your impact at MUFG

You will work as an integral member of the GCIB MBE Business Management team ensuring GCIB operates efficiently and optimally, and assisting GCIB MBE management in the requisite initiatives and change to achieve this. This support will take many forms including strategic and operational activities across a multitude of business disciplines.

Function positioning

The Global Corporate Investment Banking Division (GCIB) incorporates the Corporate Banking Division (EBD) for EMEA and the Investment Banking Division for EMEA (EIBD). The GCIB Business Management function is responsible for supporting the management and business units within GCIB from, inter alia, strategic, operational and governance perspectives, ensuring the business maintains its ‘license to operate’ as it executes its mandate in the region. GCIB MBE Business Management works with and reports into GCIB EMEA Business Management to support the business across the MBE network, namely Amsterdam, Dusseldorf and Madrid.

The role includes the following:

Leadership & Strategic Development

  • As a member of the GCIB Business Management team, support business unit heads, where necessary, in key strategic and operating issues and ensuring the implementation of plans.
  • Support the Head and Deputy Head of GCIB together with the Head of MBE Business Management in the preparation of materials, documents and policies required to support the strategic direction and objectives of the business.
  • Offer solutions and direction and then work alongside the wider business to implement changes.
  • Take responsibility for ad-hoc initiatives/requests for information within the GCIB EMEA and MBE arena as required.

Financial.

  • Play a role in the management of the financial & strategic annual/MTBP planning exercise across the department, which will require supporting specific business areas.
  • Provide appropriate support to enable the front offices in their delivery of the financial targets set for EMEA and MBE GCIB.

Operational Management

  • Drive the development of new processes and procedures to deliver improvements and innovations across the business. Drive these policy changes through to implementation supporting relevant business areas.
  • Liaise with EMEA and Global businesses in respect to business practices, policies and guidelines, look to implement and inform relevant GCIB businesses;

Global Collaboration

  • Manage the communication between stakeholders within GCIB and across regions – collaborate to establish best practice.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders within MUFG both regionally and globally in a wide GCIB context.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Work actively with GCIB teams and internal risk management departments to strengthen the identification and management of operational and compliance related risks impacting GCIB.
  • Deputize for Line Manager in relevant meetings / committees / conferences to facilitate policy development and contribute to business performance.
  • Assist in the preparation of internal / external audits

In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:

Skills and experience:

  • Degree level education or equivalent industry experience is essential
  • Experience working in the banking sector and/or financial services industry,
  • Experience working in a business management role or comparable function
  • Experience working in a role involving multi-regional teams / entities and involving several stakeholders , etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. Proficiency in English is a requirement. Business-level understanding of Japanese is a strong plus although not essential.
  • High level of competency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel / PowerPoint / Outlook / Word). Familiarity of other analytical tools and languages (e.g. Tableau, Python, etc.) would be considered a plus but is not essential.
  • Understanding of the banking industry and financial services industry, especially within the EU, in which the Bank operates. Understanding of financial regulatory rules and policies in the EU.
