The Department of Microelectronics at Delft University of Technology is seeking an ambitious and highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join a groundbreaking research program at the intersection of microfabrication, biosensors, nanomaterials, electrochemistry, and sustainable healthcare technologies.
The successful candidate will lead the research activities of Work Package 1 (WP1) within the Bio-ChipPack project, a collaborative project between TU Delft and Sensible Healthcare Systems aimed at developing next-generation continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology.
This project addresses a major healthcare challenge: enabling affordable, sustainable, and scalable glucose monitoring for millions of people worldwide. Current CGM systems remain expensive, generate significant electronic waste, and rely on manufacturing approaches that are difficult to scale sustainably. Through novel microneedle biosensor architectures and innovative semiconductor manufacturing technologies, Bio-ChipPack aims to transform how biosensors are fabricated, packaged, and deployed.
As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will drive the development of scalable wafer-level microfabrication processes for microneedle biosensors while investigating advanced nanostructured materials that improve sensitivity, reproducibility, reliability, and sustainability. You will also work in close collaboration with another postdoc to co-design the microneedle process and wafer-level packaging process.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work in TU Delft state-of-the-art cleanroom facilities (EKL and Kavli), collaborate directly with industry, publish in leading scientific journals, and contribute to technologies with direct societal impact.
