  • 30 vacation days, with the option to purchase 10 additional days.
  • An excellent pension scheme with only a 4% personal contribution to our own Vopak pension fund.

Your Mission

As a Data Scientist, your mission is to build and develop models and applications that empower the business to make informed operational and tactical decisions. Being part of the Analytics & AI team within the newly formed Corporate Information Office, you will turn opportunities into business-facing digital delivery, supporting the ambition to become an "Efficient IT Operator". By applying your technical expertise to create decision support systems, you will ensure data and AI solutions are built and scaled effectively to make Vopak's operations better, faster, and cheaper.

What will you be doing?

  • Designing and implementing Operations Research algorithms and mathematical models to give actionable decision support via existing end-user applications.
  • Analyzing large datasets to extract meaningful insights and trends, directly accelerating and improving the quality of planning and scheduling capabilities.
  • Translating business requirements into robust solutions and safely deploying them into production via CI/CD pipelines.
  • Maintaining close relationships with data scientists, analysts, engineers, product managers, and business subject matter experts to drive Vopak's digital transformation.

Does this sound like you?

  • You have an Academic Degree (e.g., econometrics, mathematics, IT) professional and intellectual level.
  • You have 3-5 years of relevant work experience in implementing Operations Research algorithms and developing decision support systems.
  • You are proficient in both Dutch and English (including excellent written and spoken English for an international environment).
  • You have strong technical proficiency in SQL, Python, Cloud data platforms (like AWS and Snowflake), data visualization tooling, and Gitlab.
  • You are a results-driven, adaptable, and critical thinker with strong communication skills, able to bridge the gap between complex mathematical concepts and both technical and non-technical stakeholders in an Agile/Scrum framework.

Don’t meet all our criteria?

No problem! If this role energizes you and the culture feels like a good fit, you are warmly invited to apply anyway.
