Job Duties

  • To provide 2nd-line operational risk oversight as part of a team of consultants, reporting into the Head of GI Prudential & Operational Risk within the General Insurance Risk Management team.
  • Work with other members of the GI Operational Risk team and the GI Risk Management team to ensure the operational risk management framework across the GI Division is effective, fit for purpose, efficient and meets all requirements outlined in the SYSC rules.
  • Ensure 1st line management are provided with advice and challenge on the implementing and embedding of risk policy and framework requirements
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring and liaison coverage of allocated business areas, ensuring that key risks are identified and reported, with management implementing appropriate mitigation plans where risks are outside appetite.
  • Support the business in completion of its risk and control self- assessments by providing robust challenge and ensuring that the business effectively owns risk maps, identifies updates required, and that OSX reflects these updates.
  • Monitor the raising and satisfactory closure of risk events and issues on OSX and provide risk/OSX training to the 1st line business.
  • Perform deep dive operational risk reviews in accordance with risk based plan.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with the Group Risk Teams to ensure a free flow of information and ensure deliverables from Group Risk teams are factored into the Division’s Risk Plans and reported to the appropriate governance forums.
  • Work with members of the GI Risk Management team in ensuring that the principles of treating customers fairly (TCF) are embedded into management practices, so that identified risks recognise relevant TCF outcomes, and business processes and internal controls are structured and performed in a way that effectively delivers the required TCF outcome.
