Have you just finished your Master in Dutch Law and are you specifically looking for a traineeship where you can develop yourself to a monitoring, as well as an advising professional? Would you like to work in an international corporate?

Vistra offers an traineeship for Compliance Officers which will start in September (and March). looking for enthusiastic and ambitious starters, who will get the chance to develop themselves at different levels during our 18-month traineeship.

You won’t start on your own, but with a trainee group, getting your first month fulltime training! focused on theoretical knowledge, practical courses, soft skill training and challenging business cases. You learn Various aspects of legal corporate trust services will be discussed, such as our approach and our clients. Not only your legal knowledge, but also your financial and tax knowledge will be expanded to prepare you for a successful career at Vistra.

After this first month you are ready for take off and you will start as a (junior) Compliance Officer at our Compliance department, which consists of approximately 7 colleagues. You will be responsible for overall compliance policies and guidance for Vistra Netherlands, so you contribute to Vistra’s first line of defense.  You will be part of the process of client approval, execute client reviews and report on anti-money laundering and sanctions to the business. Each month you will have intervision, for example to discuss interesting business cases and to follow more training. 

Key responsibilities

As a (junior) Compliance Officer :

  • you will  contribute to the development and execution of compliance policies and procedures across the organization, primarily for compliance, but also in other areas such as client privacy, records and contract management.
  • together with your team you will perform and ensure the activities in accordance with the annual Compliance Plan.
  • you will provide input for the quarterly compliance report for Group Compliance, the bi-annual compliance reports for the Management Team and the ISI report for the Dutch Central Bank.
  • you will be part of the process of client approval, execute client reviews and report on AML and sanctions for the Business Unit you serve as a dedicated Compliance Officer.
  • together with the Business Unit you ensure a proper preparation for discussing client risks at the Vistra Risk Committee and ensure the relevant documentation will be present and complete when accepting a client in the Vistra Business Committee.
  • you will liaise with all  colleagues from the business to support them in their first line compliance role. 

In all, you will be supervised by more senior compliance officers, your team lead, the Chief Risk Officer and HR.

Qualifications and other requirements

We are looking for legal starters who:

  • are ambitious to develop themselves broadly at an international corporate;
  • Have a master degree in Dutch law (preferably corporate, criminal, or notarial law);
  • Would love to really get responsible working for, and with clients. You are client focused, well-organized and you have a commercial mindset.
  • Have between 0-2 years of relevant experience (gained in legal or financial services);
  • Have excellent Dutch, and English language skills. Written and spoken.
  • You have a good sense of humor, and the guts to be a countervailing power.  
  • Are full-time available from 2 September 2019!
