Job description
Are you a Supply Chain Management or Business Administration student, ready to take up a multidisciplinary graduate assignment within the international environment of Boskalis? An assignment that challenges you use your analytical skills to find strategical improvements to our Procure-to-pay process within various departments? Does it excite you to participate in the process of developing tools that could fundamentally change our organization? Then this graduate internship might be something for you!
The departments within Boskalis collaborate closely to support the international projects of Boskalis. Fleet management, for example, is responsible for seeing to it that the ships are always in good condition and for renting out the vessels internally. Vessel maintenance takes place anywhere in the world between projects. Logically we want to keep a ship in the dockyard for as little time as possible. This calls for strict planning and sound preparation. This is where the Procurement and Logistics department can support. Since the supply chain directly affects our business, it is of the greatest importance that the supply chain is managed efficiently. Simply, the process comes down to the Fleet Management team making a request, Procurement taking care of the delivery of goods and services and Finance looking after the payments. In between, there is Warehousing, and Logistics involved.
Existing processes require alterations. Sometimes due to a change in strategic direction, or due to adjustments in operational processes to increase efficiency and/or decrease costs. Depending on the alteration, different solutions apply. That is where you will come in. You will contribute to the design of a blueprint of the future fleet management order process. This blue print will, for example, indicate how we will manage the previously described process in ten years. What tools could and should be implemented to support the future process? These tools will most likely not pay the bills right away, so what would be the advantages? You will tackle possible objections by doing research and underpinning your plan by using theoretical models. In taking up this challenge, you will be supported by various Boskalis representatives.
