Our Traineeship Programme is part of the Investment2020 initiative and offers a 12-month fixed-term work experience placement. It’s a great way to gain experience to put on your CV and to explore working life within the asset management industry.

It differs from an apprenticeship because the training doesn't follow an Apprenticeship Standard - so you won't become an accredited apprentice. Unlike the apprenticeship, it doesn't offer a permanent contract of employment. Instead, this is a 12-month programme designed to give you the experience you need to decide your next steps. You may decide to continue in the working world, or to return to education - whatever you choose to do, you can be sure of valuable training insights from an industry leader.

This programme is ideal for people either looking to take a gap year, or those who want to explore their options before deciding if university is right for them. There are no guarantees, but trainees with the right attitude and aptitude often receive permanent job offers at the end of their training.

What’s it like living and working in London?

You will spend your year working in our offices in central London. Trainees enjoy the vibrancy of life in the City of London and the opportunity to explore working life before deciding their own future plans.

We offer all trainees a competitive salary. This means you can afford to move to London for the year and experience the first step in your career without the need for additional financial support.

Data Management

Using data effectively and efficiently reporting our activities is an essential role for many teams across Schroders. It's their analysis that provides the information we need to make the decisions that fuel our business success.

What will the year look like?

This year’s programme starts on 9 September 2019. All of our trainees and apprentices start together on the same day with a three-day induction in preparation for joining their teams.

While you will spend much of the time at your desk supporting the work of your team, you will also take part in training courses and programmes throughout the year. These are designed to help develop your skills and supplement the valuable work experience you will gain. They include opportunities to develop competencies such as teamwork and networking, as well as taking part in Investment2020 industry-wide training events.

We will also support you to take the Investment Foundation Programme (formerly named Claritas). This means you will finish your year with an industry-recognised professional qualificationas well as a foot in the door to a dynamic industry.

How to apply

There is just one application form for our Trainee Programme, so when you apply you put yourself forward for consideration by all of our teams. However, you can state a preference in your application form if you wish.

We are looking for ambitious self-starters who have the enthusiasm and willingness to use the year as an opportunity to learn more about our industry and our business.

You will need to be 18 years old by 9 September 2019 to apply for this intake. Applications are now open. Please note we recruit on a rolling basis so recommend you apply early.

As a global investment manager, we help institutions, intermediaries and individuals across the planet meet their goals, fulfil their ambitions, and prepare for the future.
