About the Role

Join us as a Heating Sales Advisor and you’ll have the pride of representing one of Britain’s best-known brands and the satisfaction of shaping the future of energy

All your appointments are pre-booked for you, our customers are expecting you – all you need to do is turn up and demonstrate with them, our advanced central heating systems, associated products (including cutting edge connected products) and our flexible finance services.

You’ll be expected to demonstrate our products, provide accurate quotes and sell only the products that are right for the customers’ needs. We’ll make sure you have everything you need to succeed: a company vehicle, the latest hand-held technology, mobile phone and uniform. Of course, we’ll also give you the product training so you’ll be able to answer any customer questions. We’ll believe you to be the face of British Gas, make the right decisions and deliver a first class customer service on every visit.

At British Gas, we all work to the same aim: to provide energy and services that satisfy the changing needs of our customers – which is essentially one we have pursued for 207 years. We do this by providing 11 million homes and 900,000 businesses in the UK with cutting-edge products and services.

About You

Our Heating Sales Advisors, like our customers, come from many different backgrounds and although industry knowledge is not essential, we do expect you to want to learn about and become an ambassador for our products. What’s important is that you have a full UK driving licence with a maximum of 9 points (or equivalent that allows you to drive in the UK without restriction) and are passionate about delivering the right solutions for our customers while building rapport and confidence in our brand.

As you would expect we put our customers first; this means meeting them in their homes at a time that is best for them. This will of course involve working evenings and weekends.

If you are passionate about delivering great solutions through excellent customer service for a fantastic company, then this is the role for you. We will build on your technical and product knowledge, supporting you until you can fulfil your earning potential and are as proud to work for us as we are!

What you can expect from us

We will expect you to work in line with our customer demand which means you will be able to maximise your opportunity when we are busy and have some downtime during the quiet period. This works out as only working 44 weeks of the 52, with downtime of a minimum of 2 weeks up to a maximum of 8 weeks between April and September.

We also offer paid holiday, discounted services and pension along with other schemes. British Gas is a leading energy company and part of Centrica, a top 30 FTSE 100 company, so there will also be genuine opportunities for career development.

"There are three shifts driving change in the energy market and in our business: decentralisation of the energy system, customer power and digitalisation. Our strategy means that Centrica can react quickly and flexibly to these changes, and is strongly positioned to meet the needs of our customers, now and in the future."
Iain Conn, Group Chief Executive

These macro-trends are driving changes in the energy landscape:

Decentralisation - Globally, as we pursue lower carbon and more efficient solutions, the energy system is becoming decentralised with more technologies available and viable, close to the customer.

Digitalisation - Technological developments, both physical and digital, are accelerating the pace of change. Capability in these areas is key to keeping up with customers and their changing needs.

Power to the customer - As a result of increased choice and alternatives, the customer is becoming more powerful. Owning the relationship with customers and satisfying their needs is critical to our success.

These trends demand we deliver more decentralised technologies and propositions, stronger digital capabilities, and give our customers a better and more personalised service.
That’s why we’ve put ‘satisfying the changing needs of our customers’ at the heart of our strategy.
