In view of the Digital Transformation of our local operating companies in the Netherlands and Belgium we are looking for a Benelux Data Protection Advisor.
MAIN JOB PURPOSE:
Are you passionate about Privacy and Marketing? Do you care about the protection of personal data of consumers and employees? Do you like to work with a wide variety of functions in a fast-changing environment?
Unilever Benelux is looking for a Data Protection Advisor who will report into the General Counsel Benelux. As a Data Protection Advisor, you will determine the privacy course for the local Benelux organization, taking into account the global privacy strategy and material developed on a global level. You will advise and guide the local business when processing personal data, launch new initiatives to support compliance, provide training and facilitate awareness campaigns. As a Data Protection Advisor, you are a sparring partner for the Data Governance Lead within the Digital Hub and both roles work closely together to ensure personal data is processed compliantly and according to Unilever (privacy) standards. You will together with the Data Governance Lead roll out Privacy by Design. In order to ensure that the knowledge gathered in the Digital Transformation of Unilever Benelux becomes available for the other countries in the Middle Europe Cluster (Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy) you will in addition work together with local DPA’s of these other countries.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
You will determine the privacy Course for the Benelux MCO, according to local needs
You will act as a sparring partner for the Data Governance Lead, the Digital Board and other local business functions to identify and address potential privacy challenges and develop suitable solutions, whilst optimizing data use.
You are the first point of contact for the local Privacy Champions, the DPAs in the other countries of the Middle Europe Cluster and the Global Privacy Office
You will adjust policies, procedures and tools developed on a global level to fit local needs and ensure local implementation
You will develop and organize local privacy training for various groups of stakeholders according to their role, business needs and knowledge and understanding of privacy
You will support the business when following the Privacy by Design procedure and conducting a Data Protection Impact Assessment and will give guidance and advise to remediate the identified privacy risks
You will review the local Data Protection Checklists and Data Protection Impact Assessments
You will supervise the Article 30 Inventory and identifies and follows up on potential privacy risks
You will draft processing agreements and other privacy related contracts
You will have regular meetings with the Data Governance Lead to discuss relevant developments, challenges and their shared strategy/action plan
You will monitor data subject rights requests, to identify any notable changes in quantities, frequency and timing
You will represent Unilever externally in relevant (trade) associations
You will chair the Privacy Committee meetings and reports periodically to local leadership and the Digital Board
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU SHOULD HAVE
Fluent in Dutch and English, both verbally and in writing
Master degree in Law from a Dutch University is preferred
Expert in Dutch and European Data Protections law
Minimum of 5-8 years relevant experience
CIPP/E certified
Specialized in privacy related themes and regulations (such as privacy-enhanced-techniques and e-Privacy)
Good understanding and knowledge of marketing and media technologies
Good understanding of- and capable to work with privacy tools available on the market
Capable of dealing with complex, sensitive, multidisciplinary issues, independently and in a timely manner
Capable of advising with both the applicable privacy legislation and business needs/opportunities in mind
Capable to function in a diverse stakeholder landscape and advise both the business as leadership according to their level and needs
