Our GBS Advanced Analytics team is seeking an Analytics Director to build on prototype work done in the area of Predictive Sales modelling in order to accelerate the evolution of the Group’s approach to forecasting towards best in class. 

This leading-edge project will leverage leading data science techniques and has the potential to drive significant benefit across the markets, regions and at group level.  This is an opportunity to be instrumental in driving the delivery of a truly disruptive data driven project which is at the forefront of innovation within AstraZeneca, the Pharmaceutical Industry and Finance.

The role holder will have a strong desire to drive incremental business value using analytics, with extensive experience in project and change management, stakeholder management and business analysis.  This experience will be combined with a strong technical and analytical mindset,  The ability to communicate simply and effectively, with precision and impact across the global user community will be essential for success.

The role holder will be responsible for driving the delivery of the Predictive modelling project, ensuring the Product owner user requirements are successfully generated, captured, prioritised and used to generate relevant activity for the delivery team.

Internal candidates would be considered for a 12 month secondment opportunity.

Main duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the Advanced Analytics Director, you will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Responsible for the generation of advanced analytics opportunities ensuring that the high-level problem statement, potential analytical approach and business value is captured and understood
  • Develop a pipeline of work through interaction with relevant stakeholders internal and external to the team, driving priority based on quantifiable business benefit in addition to alignment with the strategic direction of the GBS Digital team
  • Identify resource requirements to form ‘delivery pods’ and provide input into delivery planning as required
  • Advise on the capacity and priorities of upcoming delivery cycles, balancing supply and demand across the business
  • Work with the Advanced Analytics Director to develop a process for Advanced Analytics delivery utilising relevant methodologies, tools and best practices. Take ownership of this delivery process and ensure adherence within the delivery pod(s).
  • Manage the workflow and tasks of relevant delivery pod(s), utilising an agile way of working and ensuring progress aligns with committed milestones
  • Reporting on successful implementations, pipeline demand and open risks/issues around the delivery of the pipeline in conjunction with other delivery pod members as appropriate ensuring an appropriate cadence of communication with stakeholders
  • Work with others in extended CA&AA team to embed new agile ways of working, fostering continuous improvement wherever possible

Essential requirements

  • Be an ambitious, senior manager/director looking to gain experience of advanced analytic techniques and experience working with Group Finance at AZ
  • Have significant experience in Commercial Finance with a good understanding of planning processes
  • Have strong analytical capability and “Hands-on” style
  • Capable of running a multidisciplinary project team of c.10 people
  • Able to influence senior stakeholders and convey complex concepts in clear and simple way
  • Be interested in and aware of enabling technology in data and analytics

Desirable:

  • Have experience of operating effectively within a project governance structure
  • Experience of agile project management
  • Experience of delivering advanced analytics projects
