Opportunity for a Graduate Structural Engineer to join our experienced team in central Bristol, Merchants House BS1 4RW, a large multidisciplinary office overlooking the Bristol Harbourside.

Our national structural engineering business is led from Bristol, where our largest team is located. You can expect exceptional colleagues to work with and learn from and an interesting variety of challenging and sometimes prestigious projects.

Being a multidisciplinary office, you will have the opportunity to work closely with other disciplines, including building services, acoustics, fire, utilities, civil infrastructure, transportation and geo-environmental. We also have pool and table tennis tables, big views and plenty of socials!

The role

  • Provide technical support (covering analysis, design and structural survey work) on a breadth of projects with a wide range of clients
  • Detailed design and analysis of structural elements and frames in concrete, steel, timber and masonry
  • Liaison with architects, statutory authorities, the design team and contractors
  • Assistance with site surveys and inspection work.

The person

  • A strong degree in a related discipline
  • Graduate Member of the ICE or IStructE and keen to work towards Chartership
  • AutoCAD/Revit skills
  • Self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, positive and enthusiastic approach to work
  • Ability to work under own initiative while adhering to department requirements and ensuring compliance with Hydrock’s health and safety procedures
  • Experience of building structures design (all materials) is desirable
