Practice and Role Summary
Freshfields’ Global Transactions practice brings together lawyers specialising in corporate, finance and real estate in a transactional practice group, working collaboratively to provide the best transactional advice to clients.
Freshfields is seeking a Knowledge Lawyer (maternity cover) to support its global securitisation practice and its global derivatives & structured products practice (see Experience and Qualifications below for requirements):
The Knowledge Lawyer will be part of the London Corporate Finance team which, in addition to securitisation and derivatives & structured products, has a focus on debt capital markets, investment grade lending and real estate finance. Although based in London, he/she will deliver leading-edge knowhow to fee-earners globally to maximise efficiency and minimise risk in line with business priorities.
He/she will drive the creation and dissemination of appropriate knowhow products reflecting key legal and market developments, and deliver, develop and enhance the knowledge function in line with the firm's goals. He/she will develop his/her own skills as well as guiding, coaching and motivating others.
In addition to supporting the partners and other fee earners working in the securitisation and derivatives & structured products practices, the Knowledge Lawyer’s role will also be external-facing, identifying opportunities for client-facing knowledge products and producing thought leadership pieces.
He/she will be one of a team of Knowledge Lawyers in Global Transactions, each specialised in a different product area across finance, corporate and real estate. The team is led by (and the Knowledge Lawyer will report to) the Global Head of Knowledge for Global Transactions.
Experience and Qualifications
Qualified lawyer with a strong academic background.
A high level of relevant successful experience either as a fee-earner or a knowledge management lawyer/professional support lawyer (or a combination) in at least one of:
