The opportunity:  

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Data Analytics and Architecture team. We are embarking on a programme to provision a new UK wide Data Warehouse Platform and looking to revolutionise Business Intelligence across the UK arm of Zurich Insurance. 

You will be working as a Data Developer in our DevOps team and it will be your responsibility to develop, identify and support targeted data driven intelligence across the business. You will provide high quality, transparent information, in order to leverage the value of the data throughout the organisation and provide an accelerated decision making capability.

This role is available full-time, as a job-share, or part-time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time.

The role will initially be offered on a fixed term basis for 12 months; however there is the potential for the role to become permanent.

Main Accountabilities: 

  • Build ETL Routines to extract data from our source operational systems, transforming and loading into our Data Warehouse. 
  • Provision Data Mart Solutions from the Data Warehouse which will enable the Business to quickly and simply analyse their data using Data Visualisation/BI tools. 
  • Engaging with Project Managers, Business Stakeholders and Third Party Suppliers to ensure thorough communication and expectations are being managed. 
  • Provide Business Analysis on new demand items and projects, where you will need to gather, document and design functional and non-functional requirements. 
  • Support, maintain and improve the DevOps estate. This will include user access, regular audits, provision of new databases, monitoring database performance/load/bottlenecks, maintaining Source Control of code assets, Cloning of Environments across the estate. 
  • Managing Releases and Deployments of Source Code, ETL Solutions and new Routines. 
  • Assisting with Peer Reviews and Unit/System Integration Tests. 
  • Mentor and coaching of Junior Data Developers. 

Your skills and experience:  

  • Strong T-SQL skills using SQL Server 2012 and upwards. 
  • Experienced in ETL techniques and tools. 
  • Development experience in building Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse Solutions. 
  • Solid understanding of Relational Databases. 
  • Data Visualisation and Dashboard build experience is desired but not essential. 
  • Enthusiasm and passion for Change and IT
