As an Analytics & Optimization Consultant at ORTEC you will be part of a unique organization and team!

ORTEC Groningen is looking for a new enthusiastic colleague with a strong affinity with IT and with great analytical skills. Together with your project team you are involved in the entire process of problem definition, modeling, programming, testing and delivery of software.

You are a key player to give advice to our customers in the energy, maritime and manufacturing industry using mathematical decision models. As such, you will continuously engage with clients to fully understand their business problem, manage expectations and support them in the best possible and tailored way. The main client of your team is a large player in this industry, with on- and offshore E&P as core business. For the production planning and capacity calculations they use planning and simulation software developed by ORTEC. We maintain this software and we are the preferred supplier for the development and implementation of new functionalities.

Your team is located at our office in Groningen, and you will regularly visit the customer’s location. Together with four consultants and one team lead you will maintain and develop the business-critical planning and simulation software which is used daily by many users. You will work on the thin line between IT and operation research and know when to choose a pragmatic or a more visionary approach. You are working closely with the end-users to both improve the software and help the users to exploit the full potential of the tool suite.

Who you are

You have up to 2 years of relevant working experience and you have a Master’s degree in Econometrics, (Business) Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science or other relevant studies.

 Furthermore you have/are

  • Experienced in and affinity with modeling and programming
  • A puzzle solver with excellent analytical skills
  • Affinity with data science en optimization related topics
  • Communicative, sociable and motivated by customer focus, contact and interaction
  • Able to handle high complexity and work in a team
  • Conscientious in staying abreast of new developments
  • Able to fluently communicate in English (verbally and in writing)
  • Knowledge of C++, C#, R and AIMMS is an advantage
